Dirge of Cerberus Unlocking chars

I've finished doc and im doing some extra missions but dont know how to unlock charecters :S

If ya can tell me ty and can you tell me what i use them for when they are unlocked

Well as far as I know, you don't use them for anything apart from looking at really...I've unlocked a couple before, you can't do nothing gameplay-wise with them. You unlock them by shooting hidden phials of yellow DNA throughout the levels

I used that for the extra stuff, if you need help figuring out how to shoot down some of them gamefaq.com should have a guide up there to get more in detail about it, they always seem to have the stuff you need.
