Ultimate Video Game Countdown

Woot! Zelda numbah one! And Final Fantasy not far behind on number four! I like Dance Dance Revolution third, before all the others games on there though. :/

LoZ greatest gaming series ever? Please. It's an alright series, but it hardly ever differs in terms of villains, storyline etc. Kinda makes it dull, but the creators always try and be sneaky by tweaking things a bit.

I was kind of disappointed in the fact that the Sims ranked higher than FF. The Sims is an alright game, but not as good as FF.

I think that list was horribly compiled/created. Most of the games were in the "newer" categories and people always tend to think that newer is better. If I had to make that list, it would go a little something like this (this is not well thought out mind you, but better in my opinion than that garbage one):

I will post the series first (if the game is part of a series) and then my opinion of the best one in quotes afterward. All along with a little explanation of how they got there.

1. Pong - This game started it all, so, how can you not love it?

2. Super Mario Brothers (series) "Super Mario Brothers" - This series gets such a high ranking because, not only is it thee classic, but it also has such amazing replay value despite it's simplistic game play, and storyline. Italian plumbers jumping through pipes and swallowing mushrooms and getting huge? Trippy.

3. The Legend of Zelda (Series) "The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past" - By far thee best game ever created in my opinion. It has everything. A great storyline, expansive worlds, replay ability, and a "legend" sort of feel. While the series is getting a little worn out (especially regarding story line), it's still nice to have something to rely on these days.

4. Final Fantasy (series) "Final Fantasy VII" - I think we all know why the series is so fantastic, considering where we are. I picked FFVII because I'm a huge fanboy. No more explanation to follow because we all have our own opinions.

5. Metroid (series) "Super Metroid" - These games were pure genius. The story is just incredible, and the hero actually being a heroine just adds that much more. Remember the first time you found out Samus was a chick? Of course you do. Women can kick ass!

6. Mana (series) - "The Secret of Mana" - Another classic. Great story line, terrific battle system, another classic. A legend.

7. Chrono (series) "Chrono Trigger" - Just play it. Basically all of these games are great for the same basic reasons.

8. Punch Out (series) "Punch Out" - A plain old classic that made the little man a super star.

9. Wolfenstein (series) "Wolfenstein" - The first real FPS, and still one of the best out there.

10. Doom (series) "Doom" - The first "3D" FPS (to my knowledge) which brought all FPS's into a new dimension... literally.

11. Half Life (series) "Half Life" - For once again bringing a whole new playing field to the FPS.

12. Warcraft (series) "Warcraft II" - Again a classic. One which changed strategy games forever.

13. Diablo (series) "Diablo II" - For proving me wrong that such a simplistic game ("click click click click click click") could be so damn fun.

14. Thief (series) "Thief" - A whole new perspective on the FPS where running into the heat of battle and blasting away isn't your best course of action.

15. Myst (series) "Myst" - The greatest puzzle game of all time. Period.

Honorable mentions:

Rez - Very trippy and very addictive. Plus, a little added bonus for the ladies, which also makes for a fun game for any couple who loves games! (I'm referring to the Rez Trance Vibrator of course.

Mortal Kombat (series) "Mortal Kombat"
Street Fighter (series) "Street Fighter"
Tetris
Mega Man (series) "Mega Man X"
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (series) - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time"

Like I said, I haven't put too much thought into it, and I'm sure if I had not only would the numbers be a little different, but I'm sure the games that made it would be too. It's just so hard to narrow it down to 15. After the first three or four it was very hard to determine what should go where, and what should go on and what shouldn't, but at least in my opinion, this is a much better list than the one referenced. I mean, come on.

Hey Loz is much better than FF, sure It doesn't have the length or the villians but theres something Nintendo about it that says "Pick me I'm much better" and after completing them ALL I would know. besides it was people who voted for it.
