Really isn't that hard to defeat. Just make sure everyone has a white mask, ribbons if you have any, and no elemental weapons equiped. Now, I got her down to about half her health in the first like, 5 minutes in the battle. Then, the is the little field switching. 1st hp sap, then mp sap, then, no attack, then no magic, then magnetic field, and then no items, and it all repeats itself. (so be prepared)

Now, she likes to use holyja which can sometimes inflict reverse, and after someone has the reverse effect she will use renew decreasing anyones hp to 1. Be careful when healing, reverse doesn't last long, but I would prepare an Esunaga when she's about to use it. Other than that, its pretty simple.
 
i found chaos harder than ultima cause i just attack myself when ultima does the reverse thing

Zodiark is hardest cause of the darkja causing instant death
 
Ultima, wow. One of my favorite battles in FFXII and I made a save point right before it so I can go back and try it whenver I want to.

I didn't find her hard at all since I knew her skills pattern and attacks. Probably not the hardest of the Esper battles, but it's an epic one and the intro of Ultima is sweet looking.
 
When do I get to face Ultima? right now I'm only at lady Ashe Castle
 
You can first fight Ultima when you head to the Great Crystal in Giruvegan. I don't think you can access the Upper Areas of it though until you complete the manditory storyline for the bottom part of the Great Crystal.

The Upper half has some pretty tough enemies that come in gangs so be careful.

I find it ironic that most the enemies there are weak against holy, and Ultima is a Holy Esper. :P
 
She is my favorite Esper in FFXII.

She wasn't so hard but the field effects were kind of annoying (some things you had to wait out while others actually benefit you). I love her design and I hope to see her in future Final Fantasy games (unless she goes back to being a black magic spell...).

They can always replace the Ultima spell with Omega :P
 
Hmmmm i havnt faced her yet... it was my understanding that she rested in zeterian caves and that place is a small challenge for my weak lvl 50avg characters so i waited , is scathe really all that better than ultima spell? if so where do i buy it ive seen it fighting exdus (holyja! that was a nice hard fight! and i was in the avg35 lvl! but i still won! i had like 3 hp on all my charecters but vaan and he had full hp grr he was hard !)

Thats Addramalech the Wroth, by level 40 you should be able to handle it if you have some good AoE spells.
