Recently one of the big stories in gaming is Microsoft's decision to not make the new maps on Gears of War free for the public against Epic's own choice. A compromise has been met and you will be happy to know that you can get it for free, if you wait several months after release.

So in this example you're basically you're paying a monthly fee to again pay another fee for new content, now it's Microsoft's service that's being used so it can be argued that it's within it's rights to do so but this is an example of why I'm slowly starting to dislike the current gaming scene.

Even in the days of the Dreamcast there have been games that have required you to download parts of games to actually fully complete them, in Skies of Arcadia (<3) for example to get one (out of thirty) of the needed collectible items for an uber weapon you need to download the island it's on first which for me back then was not possible.

Today it would be easier to do this but what are peoples opinions of what is too much when it comes to possible payment? Do you dislike having to download patches or content for consoles to actually play some games fully these days so you're effectually paying for an incomplete game or not?

And please don't use the term Micro$oft or M$, you look like a twat when you do.

I'm aware these companies need money to keep them going and produce more games, however I feel they're doing it now for the sake of doing it and seeing if people will buy into it, just like with the PS3, they made the price really high to see if people would buy it, because of that companies have seen that people don't mind splashing out with their money to buy things, so they're starting to put a price on everything.

And you know what?

It's pissing me off.

An excellent example of DLC at a rip-off price, for the bargain price of 500 Microsoft Points (or £4.25 in real money) you can download for GHII one of three song packs that come with 3, that's right, 3 fucking songs each.

Pack 1: Bark at the Moon ("as made famous by" Ozzy Osbourne), Hey You (The Exies) and Ace of Spades (Motorhead).
Pack 2: Killer Queen (Queen), Take it Off (The Donnas), Frankenstein (The Edgar Winter Group).
Pack 3: Higher Ground (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Infected (Bad Religion) and Stellar (Incubus).

While I don't agree with the fact that they charge money for the new maps, since I'm a gamer, I'd be "left behind" on Live if I were to not have these maps. So I forked over the 800 points without a word.

Charging money for those new maps on Gears of War is a damn sin. They're terrible...

As if Microsoft needs to charge those loyal enough to partake in their online service. We already pay a yearly fee...
