Motomu Toriyama called the theme for the game's story "Wish for Rebirth" and explained that the theme has two meanings: one is rebirth of the devastated world, and the other is the re-encounter with Lightning. The wish to rebuild a devastated world may, in part, draw from the feelings in Japan in the aftermath of the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami, as Toriyama has alluded to this disaster in an interview, saying: "The past year has seen many disasters - not only in Japan but also across the world. We sincerely hope that the story of Final Fantasy XIII-2 will bring hope and courage to many people’s hearts."

This was, if Im not wrong, from when the game has not been released. But I'm quite sure the story has been finalised by then.

That chaos apocalyse sure did bring hope and courage to my heart . Because I know that disasters in the real world won't be so bad if it ended in a Big Crunch apocalypse. And I know that ALL our efforts to rebuild the devastated world will eventually come to waste, and I am fine with that. Oh this game sure brings optimism that the world isn't going to end soon.

I have always been quite neutral towards this guy, but if he doesn't give a good explanation to such a troll statement, I really have doubts whether he is capable of this job.

Did you like the time travel BS in final fantasy 13 part two? The minute i found out he was going to add that into the story i stayed away from the game. People still aren't pleased with what he did with the 3rd birthday, i don't know why some think he didn't do anything wrong here. Time travel is just not a good thing to put into a story, yeah chrono trigger and cross did it but they pulled it off well imo. Putting it in here just wasn't a good idea imo.


Personally i feel that they should get rid of him and hire someone else to write the stories for FF games.


EDIT I completely forgot about ff8, yeah it went somewhat well for me in there.

I'm fine with some time travel stories, like in FFVIII.

While I personally think that the story of XIII has potential, after playing XIII-2, I realised this IS not that maximum potential I was talking about. They could have done much more with no time travel. Let them explore the world of Pulse with a proper map and Pulse native villages. Noel could even be recreated as one of these villagers...

i'd have to disagree though, i think the story is completely fucked. speaking as a gamer who doesn't usually pay much attention to a story, it (and the game's progression design) deeply concerned me.

The game seems well enough off until Caius is introduced into the game. The guy is a fucking troll faggot.

Didn't he also mention or say something that the game will end with Lightning smiling ? That it would end with smiles ?

This is proof that we shouldn't believe anything that the man says. He gives out false promises and downright lies, not a guy fans should trust.

Edit :

After doing some quick research supposedly this is the man that added in that horrible infamous laughing scene in FFX. He destroyed the Parasite Eve series, and is the reason why Dissidia's story is so messy and have characters bastardized.

He also did okay stuff like the Submarine chase in FF VII which is the least fun mini- game though it still holds up and the FF VII tech demo.

Still agree on the idea that he should be fired though. He's nothing but a huge Grim Reaper towards the Parasite Eve & Final Fantasy series.
