To anyone who thinks there should be a sequal to 8, game or movie

Do you think that Square should make a FFVII sequal?

If it was a movie based on the exact same plot that was in the game, perhaps, although I still think it's too much of a love story to impress me. However, I just thought the developers would have been more motivated to do a movie on a new plot, but with FF8, the ending isn't entirely open ended.

Graphics don't make a good game. Quality does.
But this is a thread concerning a Final Fantasy 8 Movie , not a game making your post irrelevant . Also the FFX movie is just a rumour that has been circulating on french sites .

You could, however, apply the concept to movies. Graphics don't necessarily make a good movie. Throwing together a bunch of cool looking effects wouldn't make much of a movie. A quality plot with well developed characters, a central theme that can be discussed and interpreted and good focus are still the main elements of a movie or a game. They may be different, but as media, the same storytelling elements and appeal still apply.

What possible plot could they make with Final Fantasy VIII? I heard the ending concluded the game. So I don't really see how it could be made into a movie. Then again, what's with this thing about Final Fantasy games being made into movies?

I absolutly agree with you. Theres no point in making any other FF movie. They all concluded. So it would be pointless to think what they could do.

I don't want to see continuation movies, there's games for that. I would prefer to either see a remake for FFVI, VII and VIII or a movie based on these games. Maybe the reason AC wasn't worshipped too much is because it was a sequel, with no foundations for a good movie. Also, SQURE hadn't written a movie script before.

Conclusion: Remake or movie based on the actual games, not sequels or prequels.

most definitely

final fantasy VIII was a terrific game. noone gives it any credit and continues to go on and on about VII. i liked ff8, the characters, storyline, and length of the game was perfect. i'd love to see a movie on it. if they can do one for VII, then why not VIII? -_-

If it's all about taste, then saying that FFVIII is good is subjective. Perhaps if they can make a movie off of FFVII they can make one of FFVIII. But as said before, the ambiguity in FFVII gives a good reason to make a movie off of it. I realize that AC was a bit of a fanservice, but I'm quite sure that wasn't the only reason they decided to do it. If all FFVIII has going for it is "fanservice", then maybe the only reason there isn't a movie on FFVIII is because the developers don't want to or don't feel like making a movie off of FFVIII.

It has romance, action and comedy. But everything was wrapped up at the end of the game and I dont know what the movie would move around. Maybe a new cast of characters? But then it wouldnt be Final Fantasy. I dont know.

It would be a pretty good idea but it should be kind of like a war in which the FF8 characters, Squall, Rinoa, Irvine, Zell, Edea, Laguna, Kiros, Ward, Selphie, Quistis, Seifer, Fujin, Raijiin, and Ellone. [Am I forgetting anyone besides Cid Kramer] all had a war with the Guardian Forces because Griever came back and turned all of the GF's evil and were sent to destroy Balamb Garden and the world with it. Not to get off topic, if they were to make a FF8 movie, it better not be crap about Rinoa and Squall falling in love and get a baby at the end of the movie. The thought of a FF8 movie gets me real excited and I think it would be a great collection to any FF fan's collection. If I had a title to the movie, it would be:

Final Fantasy 8: Guardian Force's Militia

lol, more than likely, they will make a movie but nonetheless, it is just in our dreams. *Griever and Squall stare each other face to face getting ready to launch an attack who will win?*

Um...no offense, but what kind of a plot is that? Where's the analytical value and central theme behind that plot? It's not motivating enough for any developer to want to create such a movie...unless it were just a miniscule tech demo.

There should most definitely be a FFVIII movie!! I love Final Fantasy VIII and think that the movie shouldn't be a sequel, like Advent Children, but a direct adaptation of the game...

whew we`re talkin like 20 hours of Footage there then if it was to be made into a movie (40-50+ if it was the game)

they still couldn`t fit it they`d miss the best parts if they cut it like that better to make it into an anime series

Good point, but, hey, it is just a thought. I thought it would be kind of cool, well, it might be good if there was a new evil like in Advent Children instead of Sephiroth [even though he fought Cloud at the end] I just liked my thought because of how the images would look, the battles may be short and then the real and true fight begins and there will be some romance, action, and adventure. [NO COMEDY, bad idea]

I'm not entirely sure if it would be a good idea to have more than one kind of theme in a movie...it might work in a game, but for a movie, it may tend to get muddled. It loses focus.

There isn't entirely any new kind of "evil" in AC. It's still Sephiroth and Jenova. Geostigma is just a side effect of Jenova infecting a human host. Perhaps it's explained differently, or in more detail but nonetheless, the antagonist remains the same. I'd also like to add that the ending of FF7 was open-ended enough that AC could have worked out and had a decent enough plot for the developers to actually want to make a movie for it. The remaining Jenova cells on the planet were questionable enough that the same antagonists could be used again.

okay let`s clear this up FFVII was able to be made up into a movie because the ending was a plie of shit they had to make up for all the plot holes so that`s where the movie comes along where as FFVIII had a complete ending so there can`t be a movie since the story is already over

You know how much its gonna cost?Anyway, the sequels are Advent Children and Dirge of Cebrerus,i dont see why they should fork out so much more money just for a THIRD sequel.
