This game is REALLY slow!!!

I found FFIX slow at the beginning of the game as well. However, after a while, things start picking up a lot. I remember being able to go through every ones' commands lightning fast. I had every moves location memorized. So after a while, I could input every ones' attack command in a matter of 5 seconds.

I actually still have my original copy, so I'm probably going to start playing it again soon.

I have to admit I'm probably not the person to ask about this game, as far as I'm concerned the storyline + FMV's and other bits are so good any weaknesses, such as a 7 second wait to start a fight, didn't really bother me much, plus I don't think it was much less on FF7. As other people have said, stick with it and play through the game, you'll speed up your fights with ease long before the end and you won't regret playing it through.
