The Viera, and Fran's Family

7 years? Nah, don't think I said that.

If anything, I'll try and get a hold of my friend to see if has this information floating around tomorrow.

Guys we are so stupid! :omg:Someone told me today that the FFXII Ultimania book confirms that there are male viera... Now the only question is where? I like Aerith's idea of them living in a different wood and only meeting up every 7 years to mate. It's the only idea that makes any sense.

I was going to say something along the lines of cloning, but I don't think that sort of technology really exists in Ivalice during the time frame we play through.

Perhaps the Viera 'gene' is dominant, meaning a Viera could mate with a male human and produce a child with the characteristics of a Viera, claws, rabbit ears, odd voices and so on.

Of course that child would have to be female as well which would mean the X chromosome would be the dominant one and all the Viera characteristics could reside on that particular chromosome.

Not that that really ties in well with the story line or their attitudes towards Humes though.

^ That's a good theory netdrone but in my above post I mentioned that the FFXII Ultimania book confirms that there are male viera. The only thing we can speculate now on is where they are.

Absolutely, I think the idea from the magazine is far more realistic, especially considering the Viera's "love" for humes leaves something to be desired :p.

As far as the location of the male vieras, there are a few places on the map that remain unexplored, it could be in any of those places.

That's true, I wish they had expansions, new places to explore and stuff, especially after the end...
But Viera-wise, are their only male Viera in FFXII? Because if I remember correctly, in Tactics (Advance I think) there were only Females...

The males must reside deep in the Golmore Jungle, which is why Eruyt Villages is on the outskirts and protected by magic gates and invisible pathways. Maybe the male personality has confined the existence of the females to such an extent that it would be dangerous to leave the village for fear of being approached by a male Viera and by some complicated social order, the male would be malevolent to the other gender.

Maybe the gap between breeding seasons is even longer because Viera outlive humes by some considerable margin hence the lack of Viera children (apart from the sketches during the credits).

Actually, it was the other way around. There apeared to be only female viera in FFXII. Thats why everyone was wondering where the males were. They weren't shown in the game at all.

@Okami, I really like your theory about the male viera. For all we know, they could mate every 40 years or something like that. It's probably not that extreme, but definately more than a few years. And your theory about where they live would definately explain why we never see them in the game.

That sucks uberly...i liked the idea of viera on viera...damn. Oh well. Viera males FTW. Thought: Mabey balthier is a male viera...ya never knwo, we dont know what they look like

Anyways. the only main role teh viera play in the game is Fran being one of the main characters.

Omg

Ide hate to have to wait seven years to mate again . . .

ANYWAY

I didnt really ever think about it. I definatly like the idea of them being deeper in Golmore, where the game does not explore.

The viera have cool voices, I like the way they talk. They really say every single letter correctly. Wonder if thats how everyone used to talk in real life before slang came along. And if they Viera girls are so perfect looking, wonder how the guys look. hehe I'm a little too shallow.

balthier is not a viera. obviously, he has no phisical proof. and he was called a hume by venat . . . i think . . . i dont remember when, but i remember it. wow that made no sence

I didnt know when you clicked at topic it sent you to the last page. i went to the first page, i was laughing a lot! lolz

asexually lay eggs? hahaha!
by the way, who sits around and thinks about how viera make babies? i would have never cared if i didnt see this topic. -sigh- i need to go to a party now!! whoo!

I've only just gotten passed the Mt. Bur Osimace area, and was wondering if we see anything more in the game of the Eruyt Village, or Fran's sisters?

Thanks a lot!^^

Also, I wonder how others felt about this part of the game?
I didn' like the viera mch...just kidding! :P
They are so serene. I love them. That's how I chose my screenname. Fran's little sister is so cute. She has a bit shorter hair, I love it.

As far as they go, it seems like the Viera hid for a good reason some time ago. (Perhaps because of the Gods.)

I tend to think of them as Elves analougues, but darked skinner with rabbit ears.

?

What do you mean the viera hid because of the gods? gods aren't even mentioned in FFXII if I remember correctly

Fran mumbles at some points in the game about a 'God'- "the god, she not smile on us", "the god she toys with us". Though that probably doesn't go very far to explain the actual religious beliefs of the Viera or if they did go into hiding because of a god.

She's means Gods, as in Occuria I think. Not her God.

Very perceptive is Fran, a counterpart with outlandish dress sense is always a must for any aspiring sky pirate.

May I ask who is the Viera's "god", I assumed it wasn't noted in the game.

The viera probably worship the mist. I dont believe any sort of god was mentioned in the game.

That would be very appropriate considering their affinity with the mist. I suppose they would not worship it as avidly as the common folk worshipped Yevon in FFX but that they would subtly acknowledge it as a centrepiece in their beliefs.
