So in honor of FFIV week I decided to tell the story of FF IV (in Cecil's eyes)
I might do it through other people's eyes (not 100% sure yet)
basically this goes through the whole story of Final Fantasy IV, and Cecil.
Oh and Warning now... Spoilers to the max!
Before the game event’s
Cecil was born to a mix of a Lunarian (people living on the moon) and an Earthling. He had an older brother named Theodor who unable to take care of him on his own, abandoned him outside the town Baron, where the king found him and raised him as his own son. The King would give Cecil his name. Here is where Cecil would meet his best friend Kain Highwind, and his true love Rosa Farrell. During this time Cecil would be trained as a Dark Knight, by the king’s request. Cecil would become the kingdom’s top warrior, and eventually become Captian of Baron’s mighty airship fleet known as the Red Wings.
The beginning of Final Fantasy IV- The questioning of the king.
So the story will start off with Cecil onboard apart of the Red Wing’s airship, where they had just left the city of Mysidia, where they forced there way in and took the Water Crystal, by their kings commands. Many aboard the airship question the motives of doing this, and the orders of the King, where Cecil well remind them that they are Red Wing’s and must represent Baron and the King.
When the Red wing’s land their ships, Cecil is met outside the gate by Baigan, the captain of the guards, where Cecil let’s known his displease for doing such a dirty mission. Baigan lead’s Cecil to the King where Cecil gives the King the Water Crystal and the King dismisses him. Cecil begins to leave but when the King doesn’t even thank him, he turns around and questions the reason behind robbing the people of Mysidia of the Water Crystal.
For questioning orders the King relieves Cecil of his duties of captain of the Red Wings and orders him to hunt the Summon Monsters in the Mist Valley, and to deliver a Ring to the Village of Mist. At this time Cecil’s best friend Kain, will barge in, and begin to defend Cecil’s actions. The King then orders Kain to accompany Cecil on the mission as well. Cecil will begin apologize to Kain, but Kain well tell him not to worry and that he will be reinstated as the captain of the Red Wings in no time, and they both part ways.
Cecil will begin to head to his room, but not before running into Cid Pollendina, the Engineer of the airships. Cid well give Cecil his sympathies for being discharged from the Red Wing’s but well rush off home.
Cecil will head to his room and try to fall asleep, but before he does, Rosa, who are both dating at this time (or at least I believe so) comes to give Cecil her sympathy, But Cecil, who is to distraught about what he had done, wont even look her way. When Rosa tries to comfort Cecil, he well tell her that he is a Dark Knight, and as long as he remains one, he will never be able to be with her. Rosa leaves brokenhearted, and Cecil finally gets to sleep.
The next Morning. Cecil meets up with Kain and they leave Baron for Mist Village. On the way there, they pass through Mist Cave, where they hear a voice warning them to return to Baron. Both of the men refuse however and the mist forms into the Mist Dragon. They defeat the Mist Dragon, and head to Mist Village. When they get there the package that Cecil is holding opens up by itself and a lot of Bomb’s start coming out and begins to destroy the village.
Cecil begins to question what this is about, but then they hear a young girl crying. Cecil and Kain rush to her, and the young girl begins to tell them that her mother is dead because she summoned the Mist Dragon and the Mist Dragon died, so the young girl’s mother died also. Cecil and Kain discuss in front of the young girl that they must of accidentally killed the young girl’s mother when they killed the mist dragon. The girl becomes angry and fearful of Cecil and Kain, who have both pledged to no longer follow the King’s orders. They try to take the girl to safty, but she summons Titan, and makes an earthquake, which causes an avalanche, and separating Mist Village from the rest of the valley.
Cecil’s and the Sand Pearl quest
When Cecil wakes up on the opposite side of the valley, all he sees is the young girl with him. He calls out for Kain but to no avail. He decides he cannot wait there for Kain, and he takes the young wounded girl, across a desert to the middle of it to a small village called Kaipo. He rushes her to the end, and the inn keeper lets them both stay the night. In the middle of the night Baron soldiers arrive at the inn and demand that Cecil hands over the girl, saying that the King has ordered them to kill all the Summoners of Mist. Cecil refuses to hand her over and fight’s them off. The young girl thanks Cecil, and finally tells him her name is Rydia of Mist.
The next morning Cecil and Rydia start hearing people talk about a lady from Baron who had caught Desert Fever. Cecil and Rydia rush to the house where the girl is, and to Cecil’s fear, it is Rosa. Inside the house the doctor tells them they need the Sand Pearl to cure her, which can be found in Damcyan. Cecil begins to head north to find the Sand Pearl along with Rydia.
They get to the Underground Waterway that will take them to Damcyan. Here Cecil and Rydia meet Tellah, who decides to join them so he can get his daughter back. After the long journey through the Underground Waterway, they finally get to Damcyan only to see the Red Wings attack the castle and take the Fire Crystal.
Cecil and the party rush into the castle to the very top floor, where Tellah sees the kingdom’s prince, Edward Chris von Muir, and his daughter, Anna, on her last breath of life. Tellah enraged begins to attack Edward (calling him a “spoony bard!”, but Anna gets him to stop claiming she really loved Edward. And there she dies, In Tellah’s arms. Enraged Tellah will go off on his own swearing he will take revenge on Goblez, the new captain of the Red Wings.
Cecil and Rydia are left in the castle with Edward who is too heartbroken to care about anything, It would take Cecil’s story of Rosa being sick and needing the Sand Pearl, and Rydia smacking him to get him to snap out of it. Edward agrees to take them to the Antlion’s Den where the Sand Pearl could be found. They use the hovercraft to get to the cave. When Edward tries to grab the Sand Pearl, the Antlion, which is usually peaceful attacks him. Which forces the party to kill it, and take the Sand Pearl.
After they retrieve the Sand Pearl they use the hovercraft to return to Kaipo. They use the Sand Pearl and Rosa begins to recover right away. Rosa tell’s Cecil of the King’s plan to take the remaining crystals, but also warns him that she fears that Golbez is the one pulling the strings. So the party decides to save the rest of crystals from Baron and the Red Wings.
New Goal- Defend the Crystals!
The next target is Fabul, which has the Air Crystal, so Cecil and the rest of the party begin to head that way. They take the hovercraft as far as Mt. Hobs, which is blocked by a strong thick sheet of ice. Rosa tells Rydia to use fire, but with her village being burned down, she is too afraid. Cecil tries to tell Rosa to take it easy, but Rosa persuades Rydia to get the courage and cast the fire spell to melt the ice away. While climbing ontop of the mountain, the party meets a Monk named Yang Fang Leiden, who fights off Golbez’s troops. Cecil tells Yang of Baron’s plan for taking there crystal, so Yang joins Cecil and the rest and rushes off to Fabul.
When they reach Fabul, Yang tells King Fabul of Cecil’s warning of Baron’s attack. Fabul’s King at first doesn’t trust Cecil, for he is a Dark Knight, but Yang and Edward persuade the king to trust Cecil in the end. The king has Yang Cecil and Edward defend the castle, and has Rosa and Rydia put on relief. Baron starts to attack with the Red Wings first bombing the castle, and then sends many forces at the castle. Eventually Cecil Edward and Yang are forced to retreat to the crystal room and defend it from there. In the Crystal Room Kain finally shows up to Cecil’s shock along side Golbez. Kain and Cecil fight one on one while Goblez takes out Yang and Edward. Cecil loses his duel and Kain takes the crystal. Rosa rushes in to try and stop Kain, but Kain almost ignores her, and Golbez kidnaps Rosa. With the party defeated, Cecil decides they can’t win without an airship to attack the Red Wings under Golbez’s command. So he decides that the party should sneak into Baron and get an airship from Cid. Fabul’s king lets the party use his ship to sneak into Baron. When the party sets out to sea, the ship is attacked by the Terror of the Sea Levithan, and the ship breaks apart. Cecil wakes up on a beach by himself, he calls out of Rydia Yang and Edward, but no one is around.
Castaway the Darkness for the Light Cecil!
Cecil wonders into the nearest town which is, what do you know, Mysidia! The town just loves him for what he had done to him… ok not really… He goes to meet the Elder of Mysidia, to ask for his forgiveness and to tell him of his plight to stop Golbez and Baron from getting the final Crystal. The Elder tell’s Cecil that he will not beat darkness with darkness, and that only light will be able to stop Golbez. He tells Cecil to go to Mount Ordeals to become a Paladin, and cast away the Dark Knight. The Elder calls in the twins Palom, a young male black mage and Porom, a young female white mage, to accompany Cecil on his quest.
So Cecil with the twins by his side to accompany him heads off to Mount Ordeals to become a Paladin. On his way to the top of the mountain, Cecil reunites with Tellah, who tells Cecil that in order to get revenge on Golbez he will learn the legendary spell Meteor. Tellah decides to once again join Cecil party. As the party get’s to the top of the mountain, the meet Scarmiglione of Earth, one of the four Archfiends under Golbez’s command. After the Party defeats Scarmiglione (twice, sheesh he didn’t wan to give up,) they are able to get to a small building on the top of the mountain.
Here Cecil walks slowly into the room that has nothing but mirrors in it. A mysterious voice starts calling Cecil “my son”, and a sword comes out of to Cecil that transforms Cecil into a Paladin, and that’s it, right? WRONG! Cecil must overcome the Dark Knight that he once was to fully become a paladin. However he must not think like the dark knight, but rather think as a paladin, to defend… So once Cecil defeats the Dark Knight he once was he becomes a full fledged paladin. While inside the room Tellah also learns the legendary spell Meteor.
The party heads back down the mountain all the way to Mysidia, where the Elder congratulates him, and the Twins confess to Cecil they were really spying on Cecil to see his true intentions, which Cecil understood. The elder sees Cecil sword and then tells him the Mysidian Legend of the sword, which basically says only the Chosen One can wield the sword.
The Elder opens up the Devil’s Road, which was built a long time ago as an agreement between Mysidia and Baron, that will lead the party straight to Baron (what a surprise a magical road that will take you right where you wanna go!) Tellah and the Twins both go with Cecil to the room that hold’s the Devil’s Road, and off the party goes to Baron to get an airship.
Sneak into Baron and take to the skies!
The party arrives into the town of Baron, and heads to Cids house. Here his daughter tells him about Cid being arrested for refusing to let the King see his new airship. Cecil tries to go straight into the castle form the front gates (smart thinking you wanted man you,) but the guards turn him away, (what a surprise.)
Back in the town they hear about a Martial-Artist that was made an officer for Baron that is hanging out at the Inn. So the party rushes there and to Cecil surpise it is Yang! (first Kain now Yang, whose next?) Yang orders the guards to take Cecil and his party, the party defeat them, and then Yang fights the party himself. Cecil was able to snap Yang back to reality. Yang then apologizes to the group for what he had done, and the party forgives them. While talking Yang realizes he has the Key of Baron in his pocket, which opens the Ancient Waterway into Baron Castle. (a secret way into a castle…sheesh whats next…)
So the next morning the party takes the Ancient Waterway into the castle. When they get to the main hallway, they see Baigan. Baigan tells Cecil that he is not under the evil Golbez’s control and he is only loyal to the King of Baron. He offers to help Cecil and Cecil accepts his help. Before they take another step to see the king the Twins sense a monster in the area, and accuse Baigan of being a monster (oh jeez another person betrays Cecil, poor guy
.) So the Party kills the Baigan monster, and they go to see the King. The King sees Cecil as a Paladin and gets angry at him. When Cecil ask King Baron what’s wrong, The King reveals himself to be Cagnazzo, The Archfiend of Water, (Another one turns on Cecil.) So the Party fights the Archfiend,.
Cid comes in after the fight and begins to yell at the king only to see Cecil and the rest of the group. So Cid joins them, and begins to leave the room. In the next small hallway the walls close in on the party. The twins Palom and Porom in a effort to save Cecil, Tellah, Cid and Yang both go on opposite sides of the room and turn themselves to stone to stop the walls from closing in.

The party leaves unable to unstone the twins.sad3 Cid leads them to his new airship, the Enterprise, and they take off, right away they encounter the Red Wings! (wow they are fast.) Kain is on the Red Wings Airship and Cecil tries to get Kain to snap out of Golbez control, but to no avail. Kain tells Cecil he has two choices, Go ge the Earth Crystal in Troia, or Rosa will die. (so stop you from taking all the crystals, or lose the love of your life… Kain such a great pal.) Cecil decides to do what Kain says and grab the Earth Crystal for him.
To Help the enemy and save the one you love
In Troia when he asks for the crystal he learns from Epopts, the rulers of Troia, that the Dark Elf stole the crystal and took it to his home in Lodestone Cavern. Before they go they hear of someone that is resting inside the castle so the party goes and sees that it is Edward that is resting! (another member yet lives!) Edward hears that the party is going go to Lodestone Cavern and gives Cecil the Whisperweed, since Edward is too weak to help out right then.
So the party goes into the cave and begins to fight the Dark Elf, but in this cave no metallic weapons or armor could be worn or else the party would be paralyzed. The party too weak to kill the Dark Elf thinks he won, right at this time Edward senses Cecil and the party is in trouble and begins to play a melody on his whisperweed. The melody plays on the Whisperweed that Cecil has and the Dark Elf loses control of his powers and gets too weak. Cecil taks this chance to defeat the Dark Elf and take back the Earth Crystal.
The party return to Troia only to have Kain contact him (telepathically I am guessing..) Cecil with Earth Crystal in hand gets on the Enterprise and Kain leads them to the Tower of Zot, where Golbez is holding Rosa.
Inside Golbez tells Cecil and the party he wants them to “receive” the reward, (so you have to climb to the top of the tower… Well SCREW YOU GOLBES!
) On the way to the top the party runs into the Magus Sisters, Cecil and the party able to destroy them heads into the next room. Here Golbez demands the crystal first before he releases Rosa. Cecil hands it over, but Golbez refuses to let Rosa go. Angery at this Tellah rushes at him by himself. Golbez laughs at Tellah’s futile attempts. In his last effort Tellah casts Meteor on Golbez. Cecil tries to strike at Golbez but Golbez blocks it, and strikes at Cecil but freezes at the last second, and retreats (wtf why not kill Cecil Golbez!) Tellah dies after casting Meteor, but not after he asks Cecil Yang and Cid to avenge his daughter for him.
Kain finally out of Golbez’s control leads Cecil, Yang, and Cid to Rosa. Cecil saves Rosa and they both kiss. Kain being forgiven for his actions and Rosa join the party. Before the party leaves however they fight another of the Archefiends, Barbariccia, the air one. Barbariccia in her last attempt to kill the party collapse the tower, but Rosa luckly teleports them to Cecil’s room in Baron.
Stopping Golbez from getting to the moon!
Here Cid tells the party the Enterprise will be outside the castle.(wow its like Cid knew things happened before they happened.) Kain tells the party that there are four dark crystals that are in the Underworld, and will need those crystals to get his goal of going to the moon! (cant we just build a spaceship?)
So the party get on the Enterprise and finds the way into the Underworld in the town of Agart. When they enter the underworld they realize they are too late and the Dwarves are at war with Golbez’s army. The enterprise is in the middle of all this and takes heavy damage and can no longer fly.
The party enters the Dwarves castle, and meet King Giott. King Giott asks the party to help stop Golbez and they agree, but Cid leaves to repair the Enterprise. Yang starts to sense something in the crystal room and Giotto opens it up and finds Luca’s, Giott’s daughter, dolls under Golbez’s control. The party fights the dolls (common Golbez give us more credit than this!) and Golbez enters the room! He puts a magical hold on the party and summons a Shadow Dragon, that wipes out each member one by one.Cecil being the last one left begins to accept his fate, then a Mist Dragon appears and defeats Shadow Dragon. Cecil able to move attacks Golbez and makes him retreat (yet again… bastard!) Rydia shows up and there is a warm welcome for her (being so much older now than the kid who fell off the ship. (Sheesh time flies in the underworld.) Before the game gets too happy Golbez’s hand starts to move by itself and take the Crystal and escapes! (His hand common!!! We couldn’t defeat that part of it!)
After all this the party of Rosa, Kain, Yang, Cecil, and now Rydia decide to infiltrate the Tower of Babil and take back the crystals that Golbez has. The party able to sneak into the tower ,while Golbez is finding the other dark crystals, begin the long climb. Inside they meet Dr. Lugae working on Rubicante, (really we are going do this again… Damn Archfiends and there unwillingness to die!) Rubicante retreats, and Dr. Lugae is left alone to fight the party.
The party defeats him and finds a key to stop the super cannon. The party reaches the Super Cannon, and the party try to stop it. Unable to, Yang decides he will stop it himself and kicks the party out to stop it for himself. (No not Yang now! )
Golbez shows up seeing the party try to escape. Golbez makes them fall off the bridge, but luckily Cid made repairs to the Enterprise just in time to save there sorry butts from falling into a pit of lava. However as Cid did this they Red wings are right on the Enterprises tail, trying to escape to the over world. Cid in a last effort to save Cecil and the rest jumps off the Enterprise to stop the redwings from reaching the over world. (our party is dropping like flies now
) Cid’s last request was for Cecil to go talk to his workers in Baron, so Cecil does. The workers put a hook on the Enterprise so the party can carry the Hovercraft with them, which they use to enter the Cave of Eblan.
Inside the cave they meet Edge, the Prince of Eblan, fighting Rubicante (jeez die you archfiends!)
Rubicante defeats Edge and walks away. The party tends to Edge and try to convince him to join there party. Edge first refuses, and it takes Rydia crying to get him to join. (Edge you player you.)
While back into the Tower of Babil, They climb the tower to find Edge’s parents controlled by Golbez, who killed them earlier in the game.) Edge was able to break the spell, but then Rubicante appears. The party defeat him (yet again) and enter the crystal room. Theres a trap door that drops the whole party down to the underworld, where they find a new ship, the Falcon, but this ship can’t fly over lava. They visit the Dwarves castle, and King Giott, who informs the party that Golbez is going after the last Crystal, which is in the sealed cave. King Giott gives the party the key to opining the Sealed Cave, and informs the party of someone they might wanna see in the hospital. The party is reunited with Cid who survived his sacrifice! (Yay one person is alive…wait…does anyone every die in this game??? Well Tellah did
) Cid makes the changes to the Falcon so it can fly over the lava and then he goes back to sleep.
The party goes to the Sealed Cave and they open it. Cecil and the party head to the bottom of the cave and find the crystal, however a wall monster appears and tries to kill the party, but the party defeats it. At this time Golbez calls out to Kain, and regains control of him. Kain takes the final Crystal and runs off!
To the moon and final battle!
With all the crystals under Golbez’s control, he makes his stairway to the moon, (at least that is what I call it. The party head back to the Dwarve’s castle and Cid adds a drill to the Falcon. With the drill the party drill there way back to the surface. From the surface they head to Mysidia, where the Elder gathers some of the citizens and they pray out to the ocean. The Lunar Whale appears, that can send people to the moon! (more than one way to the moon, does this game ever leave you wondering how you are going get somewhere?)
The party takes the Ship to the Moon, and enters a crystal to meet Fusoya, who is sleeping. Fusoya wakes up and explains that Golbez is under the control of an evil Lunarian named Zemus, and the real power behind the crystals, is to activate the Giant of Babil. (So we know the real enemy now!) Zemus wants to the Earth to be destroyed, so Fusoya joins the party to head back to earth. By the time they get back however, it is too late. The Giant of Babil has awaken and is destroying everything.
At this time Cid has recovered and is leading an army from everywhere to fight the big evil Giant of Babil. In this party is The Dwarf King, Cid, Yang (Yang lives! That leaves Tellah and the twins ) Edward, and Elder Mysidia with the Twins (YAY EVERYONE LIVED…. Oh wait… Tellah .)
With everyone attacking the Giant, cecil, and the gang are able to enter the Giant, and begin the climb to the control room. On the way there, they run into the Archfiends… yet again.. (and don’t worry this is the final time you see them! Thank god!) After Cecil and the group kill them, the party enters the control room to fight the CPU and destroy it. Golbez (still under Zemus control now) Gets angry and tries to attack the party, but Fusoya knocks him back, and Zemus loses control of Golbez. Here you learn that Golbez is really Cecil’s brother who left him at Banon all those years ago. (Shocker!!! Luke I am your father…wait…Brother…) Fusoya and Golbez decide to head to the moon alone to fight Zemus, and Kain is Finally back in control of his actions.
Cecil Edge and Kain decide to head to the moon after Fusoya and Golbez. Cecil asks Rosa and Rydia to leave the ship, for not wanting to get his love and the young girl he took care of so long ago involved in any more of this battle. Rosa and Rydia sadly agree, and leave the Lunar Whale. After the Lunar Whale gets to the moon, Cecil, Edge and Kain head to the teleport to get off the ship, but are stopped by Rosa and Rydia (those sneaky girls!) Cecil begins to worry but, Rosa and Rydia both argue that this is really there fight also and they have all come this far together.. So Cecil gets convinced to let them come along.
On the moon the party heads for the Lunar Core nad watch Fusoya and Golbez defeat Zemus (wow we didn’t even need to fight the final fight!) But (yes there is a but… ) Zemus with all his hatred makes Zeromus, which is all of Zemus anger, (see no one dies in this game the first time!) attacks the party. After defeating zeromus with the crystals, the party return to earth and Cecil and Rosa get married, and Cecil and Rosa become king and queen of Baron, and everyone is there except for Kain.
So everyone lives happily ever after... well as far as this game is concern (till you go and play the sequel.)

Cecil’s and the Sand Pearl quest
When Cecil wakes up on the opposite side of the valley, all he sees is the young girl with him. He calls out for Kain but to no avail. He decides he cannot wait there for Kain, and he takes the young wounded girl, across a desert to the middle of it to a small village called Kaipo. He rushes her to the end, and the inn keeper lets them both stay the night. In the middle of the night Baron soldiers arrive at the inn and demand that Cecil hands over the girl, saying that the King has ordered them to kill all the Summoners of Mist. Cecil refuses to hand her over and fight’s them off. The young girl thanks Cecil, and finally tells him her name is Rydia of Mist.
The next morning Cecil and Rydia start hearing people talk about a lady from Baron who had caught Desert Fever. Cecil and Rydia rush to the house where the girl is, and to Cecil’s fear, it is Rosa. Inside the house the doctor tells them they need the Sand Pearl to cure her, which can be found in Damcyan. Cecil begins to head north to find the Sand Pearl along with Rydia.
They get to the Underground Waterway that will take them to Damcyan. Here Cecil and Rydia meet Tellah, who decides to join them so he can get his daughter back. After the long journey through the Underground Waterway, they finally get to Damcyan only to see the Red Wings attack the castle and take the Fire Crystal.
Cecil and the party rush into the castle to the very top floor, where Tellah sees the kingdom’s prince, Edward Chris von Muir, and his daughter, Anna, on her last breath of life. Tellah enraged begins to attack Edward (calling him a “spoony bard!”, but Anna gets him to stop claiming she really loved Edward. And there she dies, In Tellah’s arms. Enraged Tellah will go off on his own swearing he will take revenge on Goblez, the new captain of the Red Wings.
Cecil and Rydia are left in the castle with Edward who is too heartbroken to care about anything, It would take Cecil’s story of Rosa being sick and needing the Sand Pearl, and Rydia smacking him to get him to snap out of it. Edward agrees to take them to the Antlion’s Den where the Sand Pearl could be found. They use the hovercraft to get to the cave. When Edward tries to grab the Sand Pearl, the Antlion, which is usually peaceful attacks him. Which forces the party to kill it, and take the Sand Pearl.
After they retrieve the Sand Pearl they use the hovercraft to return to Kaipo. They use the Sand Pearl and Rosa begins to recover right away. Rosa tell’s Cecil of the King’s plan to take the remaining crystals, but also warns him that she fears that Golbez is the one pulling the strings. So the party decides to save the rest of crystals from Baron and the Red Wings.
New Goal- Defend the Crystals!
The next target is Fabul, which has the Air Crystal, so Cecil and the rest of the party begin to head that way. They take the hovercraft as far as Mt. Hobs, which is blocked by a strong thick sheet of ice. Rosa tells Rydia to use fire, but with her village being burned down, she is too afraid. Cecil tries to tell Rosa to take it easy, but Rosa persuades Rydia to get the courage and cast the fire spell to melt the ice away. While climbing ontop of the mountain, the party meets a Monk named Yang Fang Leiden, who fights off Golbez’s troops. Cecil tells Yang of Baron’s plan for taking there crystal, so Yang joins Cecil and the rest and rushes off to Fabul.
When they reach Fabul, Yang tells King Fabul of Cecil’s warning of Baron’s attack. Fabul’s King at first doesn’t trust Cecil, for he is a Dark Knight, but Yang and Edward persuade the king to trust Cecil in the end. The king has Yang Cecil and Edward defend the castle, and has Rosa and Rydia put on relief. Baron starts to attack with the Red Wings first bombing the castle, and then sends many forces at the castle. Eventually Cecil Edward and Yang are forced to retreat to the crystal room and defend it from there. In the Crystal Room Kain finally shows up to Cecil’s shock along side Golbez. Kain and Cecil fight one on one while Goblez takes out Yang and Edward. Cecil loses his duel and Kain takes the crystal. Rosa rushes in to try and stop Kain, but Kain almost ignores her, and Golbez kidnaps Rosa. With the party defeated, Cecil decides they can’t win without an airship to attack the Red Wings under Golbez’s command. So he decides that the party should sneak into Baron and get an airship from Cid. Fabul’s king lets the party use his ship to sneak into Baron. When the party sets out to sea, the ship is attacked by the Terror of the Sea Levithan, and the ship breaks apart. Cecil wakes up on a beach by himself, he calls out of Rydia Yang and Edward, but no one is around.
Castaway the Darkness for the Light Cecil!
Cecil wonders into the nearest town which is, what do you know, Mysidia! The town just loves him for what he had done to him… ok not really… He goes to meet the Elder of Mysidia, to ask for his forgiveness and to tell him of his plight to stop Golbez and Baron from getting the final Crystal. The Elder tell’s Cecil that he will not beat darkness with darkness, and that only light will be able to stop Golbez. He tells Cecil to go to Mount Ordeals to become a Paladin, and cast away the Dark Knight. The Elder calls in the twins Palom, a young male black mage and Porom, a young female white mage, to accompany Cecil on his quest.
So Cecil with the twins by his side to accompany him heads off to Mount Ordeals to become a Paladin. On his way to the top of the mountain, Cecil reunites with Tellah, who tells Cecil that in order to get revenge on Golbez he will learn the legendary spell Meteor. Tellah decides to once again join Cecil party. As the party get’s to the top of the mountain, the meet Scarmiglione of Earth, one of the four Archfiends under Golbez’s command. After the Party defeats Scarmiglione (twice, sheesh he didn’t wan to give up,) they are able to get to a small building on the top of the mountain.
Here Cecil walks slowly into the room that has nothing but mirrors in it. A mysterious voice starts calling Cecil “my son”, and a sword comes out of to Cecil that transforms Cecil into a Paladin, and that’s it, right? WRONG! Cecil must overcome the Dark Knight that he once was to fully become a paladin. However he must not think like the dark knight, but rather think as a paladin, to defend… So once Cecil defeats the Dark Knight he once was he becomes a full fledged paladin. While inside the room Tellah also learns the legendary spell Meteor.
The party heads back down the mountain all the way to Mysidia, where the Elder congratulates him, and the Twins confess to Cecil they were really spying on Cecil to see his true intentions, which Cecil understood. The elder sees Cecil sword and then tells him the Mysidian Legend of the sword, which basically says only the Chosen One can wield the sword.
The Elder opens up the Devil’s Road, which was built a long time ago as an agreement between Mysidia and Baron, that will lead the party straight to Baron (what a surprise a magical road that will take you right where you wanna go!) Tellah and the Twins both go with Cecil to the room that hold’s the Devil’s Road, and off the party goes to Baron to get an airship.
Sneak into Baron and take to the skies!
The party arrives into the town of Baron, and heads to Cids house. Here his daughter tells him about Cid being arrested for refusing to let the King see his new airship. Cecil tries to go straight into the castle form the front gates (smart thinking you wanted man you,) but the guards turn him away, (what a surprise.)
Back in the town they hear about a Martial-Artist that was made an officer for Baron that is hanging out at the Inn. So the party rushes there and to Cecil surpise it is Yang! (first Kain now Yang, whose next?) Yang orders the guards to take Cecil and his party, the party defeat them, and then Yang fights the party himself. Cecil was able to snap Yang back to reality. Yang then apologizes to the group for what he had done, and the party forgives them. While talking Yang realizes he has the Key of Baron in his pocket, which opens the Ancient Waterway into Baron Castle. (a secret way into a castle…sheesh whats next…)
So the next morning the party takes the Ancient Waterway into the castle. When they get to the main hallway, they see Baigan. Baigan tells Cecil that he is not under the evil Golbez’s control and he is only loyal to the King of Baron. He offers to help Cecil and Cecil accepts his help. Before they take another step to see the king the Twins sense a monster in the area, and accuse Baigan of being a monster (oh jeez another person betrays Cecil, poor guy
.) So the Party kills the Baigan monster, and they go to see the King. The King sees Cecil as a Paladin and gets angry at him. When Cecil ask King Baron what’s wrong, The King reveals himself to be Cagnazzo, The Archfiend of Water, (Another one turns on Cecil.) So the Party fights the Archfiend,.Cid comes in after the fight and begins to yell at the king only to see Cecil and the rest of the group. So Cid joins them, and begins to leave the room. In the next small hallway the walls close in on the party. The twins Palom and Porom in a effort to save Cecil, Tellah, Cid and Yang both go on opposite sides of the room and turn themselves to stone to stop the walls from closing in.

sad3 Cid leads them to his new airship, the Enterprise, and they take off, right away they encounter the Red Wings! (wow they are fast.) Kain is on the Red Wings Airship and Cecil tries to get Kain to snap out of Golbez control, but to no avail. Kain tells Cecil he has two choices, Go ge the Earth Crystal in Troia, or Rosa will die. (so stop you from taking all the crystals, or lose the love of your life… Kain such a great pal.) Cecil decides to do what Kain says and grab the Earth Crystal for him.To Help the enemy and save the one you love
In Troia when he asks for the crystal he learns from Epopts, the rulers of Troia, that the Dark Elf stole the crystal and took it to his home in Lodestone Cavern. Before they go they hear of someone that is resting inside the castle so the party goes and sees that it is Edward that is resting! (another member yet lives!) Edward hears that the party is going go to Lodestone Cavern and gives Cecil the Whisperweed, since Edward is too weak to help out right then.
So the party goes into the cave and begins to fight the Dark Elf, but in this cave no metallic weapons or armor could be worn or else the party would be paralyzed. The party too weak to kill the Dark Elf thinks he won, right at this time Edward senses Cecil and the party is in trouble and begins to play a melody on his whisperweed. The melody plays on the Whisperweed that Cecil has and the Dark Elf loses control of his powers and gets too weak. Cecil taks this chance to defeat the Dark Elf and take back the Earth Crystal.
The party return to Troia only to have Kain contact him (telepathically I am guessing..) Cecil with Earth Crystal in hand gets on the Enterprise and Kain leads them to the Tower of Zot, where Golbez is holding Rosa.
Inside Golbez tells Cecil and the party he wants them to “receive” the reward, (so you have to climb to the top of the tower… Well SCREW YOU GOLBES!
) On the way to the top the party runs into the Magus Sisters, Cecil and the party able to destroy them heads into the next room. Here Golbez demands the crystal first before he releases Rosa. Cecil hands it over, but Golbez refuses to let Rosa go. Angery at this Tellah rushes at him by himself. Golbez laughs at Tellah’s futile attempts. In his last effort Tellah casts Meteor on Golbez. Cecil tries to strike at Golbez but Golbez blocks it, and strikes at Cecil but freezes at the last second, and retreats (wtf why not kill Cecil Golbez!) Tellah dies after casting Meteor, but not after he asks Cecil Yang and Cid to avenge his daughter for him.Kain finally out of Golbez’s control leads Cecil, Yang, and Cid to Rosa. Cecil saves Rosa and they both kiss. Kain being forgiven for his actions and Rosa join the party. Before the party leaves however they fight another of the Archefiends, Barbariccia, the air one. Barbariccia in her last attempt to kill the party collapse the tower, but Rosa luckly teleports them to Cecil’s room in Baron.
Stopping Golbez from getting to the moon!
Here Cid tells the party the Enterprise will be outside the castle.(wow its like Cid knew things happened before they happened.) Kain tells the party that there are four dark crystals that are in the Underworld, and will need those crystals to get his goal of going to the moon! (cant we just build a spaceship?)
So the party get on the Enterprise and finds the way into the Underworld in the town of Agart. When they enter the underworld they realize they are too late and the Dwarves are at war with Golbez’s army. The enterprise is in the middle of all this and takes heavy damage and can no longer fly.
The party enters the Dwarves castle, and meet King Giott. King Giott asks the party to help stop Golbez and they agree, but Cid leaves to repair the Enterprise. Yang starts to sense something in the crystal room and Giotto opens it up and finds Luca’s, Giott’s daughter, dolls under Golbez’s control. The party fights the dolls (common Golbez give us more credit than this!) and Golbez enters the room! He puts a magical hold on the party and summons a Shadow Dragon, that wipes out each member one by one.Cecil being the last one left begins to accept his fate, then a Mist Dragon appears and defeats Shadow Dragon. Cecil able to move attacks Golbez and makes him retreat (yet again… bastard!) Rydia shows up and there is a warm welcome for her (being so much older now than the kid who fell off the ship. (Sheesh time flies in the underworld.) Before the game gets too happy Golbez’s hand starts to move by itself and take the Crystal and escapes! (His hand common!!! We couldn’t defeat that part of it!)
After all this the party of Rosa, Kain, Yang, Cecil, and now Rydia decide to infiltrate the Tower of Babil and take back the crystals that Golbez has. The party able to sneak into the tower ,while Golbez is finding the other dark crystals, begin the long climb. Inside they meet Dr. Lugae working on Rubicante, (really we are going do this again… Damn Archfiends and there unwillingness to die!) Rubicante retreats, and Dr. Lugae is left alone to fight the party.
The party defeats him and finds a key to stop the super cannon. The party reaches the Super Cannon, and the party try to stop it. Unable to, Yang decides he will stop it himself and kicks the party out to stop it for himself. (No not Yang now!
)Golbez shows up seeing the party try to escape. Golbez makes them fall off the bridge, but luckily Cid made repairs to the Enterprise just in time to save there sorry butts from falling into a pit of lava. However as Cid did this they Red wings are right on the Enterprises tail, trying to escape to the over world. Cid in a last effort to save Cecil and the rest jumps off the Enterprise to stop the redwings from reaching the over world. (our party is dropping like flies now
) Cid’s last request was for Cecil to go talk to his workers in Baron, so Cecil does. The workers put a hook on the Enterprise so the party can carry the Hovercraft with them, which they use to enter the Cave of Eblan. Inside the cave they meet Edge, the Prince of Eblan, fighting Rubicante (jeez die you archfiends!)
Rubicante defeats Edge and walks away. The party tends to Edge and try to convince him to join there party. Edge first refuses, and it takes Rydia crying to get him to join. (Edge you player you.)
While back into the Tower of Babil, They climb the tower to find Edge’s parents controlled by Golbez, who killed them earlier in the game.) Edge was able to break the spell, but then Rubicante appears. The party defeat him (yet again) and enter the crystal room. Theres a trap door that drops the whole party down to the underworld, where they find a new ship, the Falcon, but this ship can’t fly over lava. They visit the Dwarves castle, and King Giott, who informs the party that Golbez is going after the last Crystal, which is in the sealed cave. King Giott gives the party the key to opining the Sealed Cave, and informs the party of someone they might wanna see in the hospital. The party is reunited with Cid who survived his sacrifice! (Yay one person is alive…wait…does anyone every die in this game??? Well Tellah did
) Cid makes the changes to the Falcon so it can fly over the lava and then he goes back to sleep.The party goes to the Sealed Cave and they open it. Cecil and the party head to the bottom of the cave and find the crystal, however a wall monster appears and tries to kill the party, but the party defeats it. At this time Golbez calls out to Kain, and regains control of him. Kain takes the final Crystal and runs off!
To the moon and final battle!
With all the crystals under Golbez’s control, he makes his stairway to the moon, (at least that is what I call it. The party head back to the Dwarve’s castle and Cid adds a drill to the Falcon. With the drill the party drill there way back to the surface. From the surface they head to Mysidia, where the Elder gathers some of the citizens and they pray out to the ocean. The Lunar Whale appears, that can send people to the moon! (more than one way to the moon, does this game ever leave you wondering how you are going get somewhere?)
The party takes the Ship to the Moon, and enters a crystal to meet Fusoya, who is sleeping. Fusoya wakes up and explains that Golbez is under the control of an evil Lunarian named Zemus, and the real power behind the crystals, is to activate the Giant of Babil. (So we know the real enemy now!) Zemus wants to the Earth to be destroyed, so Fusoya joins the party to head back to earth. By the time they get back however, it is too late. The Giant of Babil has awaken and is destroying everything.
At this time Cid has recovered and is leading an army from everywhere to fight the big evil Giant of Babil. In this party is The Dwarf King, Cid, Yang (Yang lives! That leaves Tellah and the twins
) Edward, and Elder Mysidia with the Twins (YAY EVERYONE LIVED…. Oh wait… Tellah .)With everyone attacking the Giant, cecil, and the gang are able to enter the Giant, and begin the climb to the control room. On the way there, they run into the Archfiends… yet again.. (and don’t worry this is the final time you see them! Thank god!) After Cecil and the group kill them, the party enters the control room to fight the CPU and destroy it. Golbez (still under Zemus control now) Gets angry and tries to attack the party, but Fusoya knocks him back, and Zemus loses control of Golbez. Here you learn that Golbez is really Cecil’s brother who left him at Banon all those years ago. (Shocker!!! Luke I am your father…wait…Brother…) Fusoya and Golbez decide to head to the moon alone to fight Zemus, and Kain is Finally back in control of his actions.
Cecil Edge and Kain decide to head to the moon after Fusoya and Golbez. Cecil asks Rosa and Rydia to leave the ship, for not wanting to get his love and the young girl he took care of so long ago involved in any more of this battle. Rosa and Rydia sadly agree, and leave the Lunar Whale. After the Lunar Whale gets to the moon, Cecil, Edge and Kain head to the teleport to get off the ship, but are stopped by Rosa and Rydia (those sneaky girls!) Cecil begins to worry but, Rosa and Rydia both argue that this is really there fight also and they have all come this far together.. So Cecil gets convinced to let them come along.
On the moon the party heads for the Lunar Core nad watch Fusoya and Golbez defeat Zemus (wow we didn’t even need to fight the final fight!) But (yes there is a but… ) Zemus with all his hatred makes Zeromus, which is all of Zemus anger, (see no one dies in this game the first time!) attacks the party. After defeating zeromus with the crystals, the party return to earth and Cecil and Rosa get married, and Cecil and Rosa become king and queen of Baron, and everyone is there except for Kain.
So everyone lives happily ever after... well as far as this game is concern (till you go and play the sequel.)
