Has anyone ever heard of the sitar?
Has anyone liked the sound of it?

I'm making this thread because I am rather interested in the instrument, particularly because of the way it sounds and the way a certain band and specifically a certain person manipulated its sound to make really good music.

Any fans? :)

I associate Sitars with Indian music... Sitars dont sound too bad. Its an interesting instrument. Not that I like Sum 41 that much, but there was a thing on a music show where they were mucking around with different instruments and one of them used a sitar instead of the usual guitar... it sounded alright actually

^ I'm trying to imagine it now... Actually I have the captain planet tem stuck in my head, its pissing me off.. so Im gonna try and associate the 2 sitars a tambura and a Taiko drum into the captain planet theme...right now its not sounding good... Not sure what the last 2 are but i'll imagine theyre like bongos...

I absolutely love the sitar. It's got such a unique sound & I really enjoy it.

I'd love to own one & learn how to play it, but I can't seem to find one that isn't super-expensive. Of course, I guess I can't really fault the people for making them so expensive - most of them are handmade.

I know, I love the sound of it.
The way George Harrison played it was just awesome. But of course, that was with help from Ravi Shankar. :)

A Tambura is a Bass Sitar..Kinda. It has only 3 Strings, all used for a drone.
