I personally believe they MIGHT be former lovers but I dunno. Or I think they may be former bestfiriends turned enemies because of a law or something like that.

There was that leaked trailer (I think) that showed the blonde haired girl for about a second but it was nothing to get over excited about since the quality of it was crao anyway.
But there are great pictures of her. =]

I think that they were forced to fight (or at least that's the rumour I've heard) but they'll eventually become friends and then both battle the guy in the black suit...which looks like he could be a leading bad guy.

Judging purely on the fact that he was said to look "surprised" to see her, but in a happy way. That and because this looks like the most likely love link in the game so far, and SE can't have a FF game without a love link, now can they?

I agree with the friends forced to be enemies theory. Though a very close friendship, that involves quite a bit of history, which will develop into something more.

Ack, I don't hate romance but I can't help but feel it's getting kind of contrived in video games recently

I prefer they are, or will be, close friends.

But if it's a romance that develops and makes sense and not that slap-stick romance from FFVIII, than I'm all for it
