The Pros and Cons of a major platform remake

Why would voice actors care what console it was released on?

Anyways...I was just thinking how neat it'd be to go through Gogo's lil dungeon in 3D! That'd be nuts! Though I guess they'd just include a shadow or something for the place where the ceiling falls down? Whatever, it'd still be cool...

Umm...wouldn't a DS remake be more...realistic? Seeing as how they are doing so many games on that platform...

I for one could see VI being remade on the PS3, for a couple reasons:

1) It has so many characters, each with their own background story, while tho not in detail, deep enough to pick favorites and leasts, based on why they are there. Just like...well, any others out there with more than like.....5 characters lol. But I digress.

2) you want a good story like VII where a sinister character tries to destroy the world? Well then try this guy Kefka. Cuz this dude will not only destroy your world, but I could see him blaring some ICP and laughing like a maniac while doing it. I mean come on...he took it a step farther than Sephiroth and actually suceeded in altering the future of the ENTIRE world! I could name only....well one other char other than this that i loved so much because of sucessful planet obliterators, and that is the entity that is known as LAVOS. yes...write that one down lol.
But again I digress.

3) the opera scene with celes could be turned into one of the most heartfelt and touching scenes (not like Aerith i know....but going in that direction, just less attachment) where you really feel bad for the people, and the things that happen take a toll on your brains.

I onno really, i guess all im saying is, if you put a really good team behind the remake, (squeenix i hope you're listening! or reading for that matter haha) then i think that VI for the PS3 could be one of the best RPG's that the next gen can have...if television shows can do it (Battlestar Galactica im looking at you!) then why not popular RPG's? I could definately see myself playing for HOURS a remake of VI.

Pros
1. The game would be in 3D and we would get to see the characters look more realistic
2. Some of the FMVs would be awesome, specifically the "World Ending" one.
3. The music would not sound so 16 bit
4. Some things could be elaborated on, specifically Kefka

Cons
1. This game would most likely have voice actors... and if they are any thing like FFX, FFXII, or AC well...
2. Unnecessary things could be added. I don't want to see hours and hours of angsting because it appeals to little fangirls.
3. Making the characters appear more attractive than they are. Kefka is a creepy clown, Cyan is 50 years old, Relm is a little girl, Gau was raised in the woods, and Stratego is an old man. Don't make they look hot. Setzer also better not look the way he does in Kingdom Hearts II.
4. They BETTER keep the world map and controllable air ship.

Pro #1: True, true. I think they did a good job in the opening movie of FF6 for the Anthology for PS1, where the characters looked updated with new graphics but still faithful to the art style.
Pro #2: The opera scene would be TO. DIE. FOR.
Pro #3: Aw, but I like the 16-bit music. The world map version of Terra is still one of my favorite game songs... but I do like the piano version at the beginning of Anthology VI.
Pro #4: This is a big one for me. One of the main reasons I want an FF7 remake so badly is because not enough was explained in that game. (There's a difference between leaving things to the imagination and blatantly not explaining them, but it took a while for Square to figure that out. //begin Compilation)

Con #1: I didn't mind FF10's voice actors (except for Tidus), and I liked all of them from FF12. I think they're getting better.
Con #2: I'll trust Square not to go this route.
Con #3: I DO NOT trust Square not to go this route. I've also been complaining about Nomura's latest character designs and redesigns (I didn't consider Zack to be "pretty" in the original art for FF7, but now... and Sephiroth is getting ridiculous). Like I said, it'd be great to see them in 3D but faithful to the original artwork, like in the opening movie to Anthology VI, but if everyone starts going supermodel (except Celes), it'll be more than mildly upsetting.
Con #4: I concur. I refuse to believe world maps are things of the past, even though recent games tell me otherwise.

Too bad some of the scenes would look really ridicilous in 3d. Think about fight against Air Force. Characters falling down and same time they are fighting a boss. It is funny but it is impossible to make it look like believable in 3d. Same goes for Phantom Train battle, waterfall- and underwater battles.

This is same thing goes for VII where some fans would be furious to see Cloud as drag in Honey bee inn-scenes.

I think if they can make underwater/swimming battles (like they did in X) then an air battle wouldn't be impossible...I don't think any of those ideas would look bad (though I'd rather see them used in a completely different game)...I mean, the background would actually look awesome! Their movements would have to be really different in freefall than just standing there, of course...but why not think of how cool it COULD look!

The train battle could be freakin sweet! Running full tilt, but then when you enter a fight command, they turn & stop and use the force of the train's movement in their attack but at the same time have to, like, bounce off the front frame to get back to the lineup & continue running...It wouldn't be too outlandish. They're already RPG characters, right?

But anyways, I'd be fine w/just a 3D DS port, so I wouldn't expect anything like that, really...I'd be fine if they were still just standing mid-air, I guess...*shrugs*

Why would fans be furious? I think it would be funny. If it would really hurt some people to see Cloud in drag in a lot more detail, they could just skip the Honey Bee Inn, because it's not required.

Oh yeah, I totally forgot to go over that myself...I mean, I don't think the original intention was for that scene to be anything but comedic in nature...if you don't get that much than you fail...I don't even like FFVII, but even I knew that much and appreciated it for that attempt (if nothing else)...besides, it makes me think of how awesome Faris will look when they do FFV DS...:P

I know it is comedic scene, I like it but there are so many Cloud fans who want nothing but him to see fighting Sephiroth. They will be crushed if they see their hero as a drag. Square-Enix is doing what devoted Cloud/Sephiroth fans want not how to game goes in real.

I don't think Cloud fanboys will become an heroes just because they see Cloud in drag. Like Cecily said, it is optional, so if any of them are stupid enough to do it and then cry about it, then they really should remove themselves from the gene pool.

Cyan is 50 years old
ahh yes, but in the game they say he is quite hansome.
Although I don't trust SE to not make him look like Sephiroth, Cyan has long hair and a katana. Considering Nomura's inability to come up with original designs, I can't say I'm optimistic.

Quick question. Are you talking about Cyan or Setzer? I only ask becasue you said "look like Sephiroth" and Setzer does resemble Sephiroth. But then you mention katana .

LOL well some 50 year olds are quite good looking for their age. :P

He was comparing Cyan to Sephiroth because they both have long hair & both wield katanas. Instead of a comma, the word 'instead' or 'because' might have made things clearer in his sentence though...*shrugs*

He also forgot that Cyan's got that bitchin 'stache!!! That's something Nomura can't touch...and anyways...why would Nomura have to redesign the characters?? He did for Kingdom Hearts because that was more of a (/his own0 side project thing
...But a remake? I believe that'd be all Amano's art or something...
