How far would you go to irmprove your appearance? Something simple like dye your hair or get earrings? Or would you go further and get surgery? Enlarge or reduce parts of your body...staple your stomach...get Botox? Do you feel that a person should go to whatever lengths that make them happy or that it is all rather shallow? Should there be a limit and, if so, how far is too far?

The perfect body is the body you were created with!
Everything else is a result of what you do, eat at mcdonalds every day and become obese, dont take care of your foot hyeigene you get fungi, smoke too much, get lung cancer. Of course, plastuic surgery, stomach stiching (watever it's called), medicine helps keep you in shape but you also gotta beware, plastic surgury can ruin your life because it dosent walways work.
Be happy with your created body and take care of it or else!

Diet, exercise and compulsory surgery (heart transplants and the such) are the only I would do. There is no need for anyone to feel the need to conform to the warped image that our superficial society presents to us. It is almost impossible to reach and no one should feel they are lesser by not achieving this image.

I gel my hair and wear contact lenses, but that's because I hate my messy hair and my glasses infringe on me ;)

Well there aint such a thing as a perfect body...I try make-up n such but really when it comes down to it people should accept each other as they are...if people aint happy about how i look and use that as an excuse for not getting to know me then id rather not know them anyway(and that should apply to everyone)

I figured I'd post what I think now.

I feel that if a person wishes to do some changes to improve their looks that's fine but there is a line that can be crossed. Some people get pressed by society's ideals and less so of improving themselves for their own satisfaction. People need to start to accept themselves, IMO, as was said. Some alterations are fine because it helps improve self-esteem but when you start to adversely affect your health that's where the line stops for me.

You're right my friend is a perv (more than kazekage-gaara) and was looking in this magazine and saw that 47% of models (runway, clothing, or anything else of the sort) have had some kind of surgery like plastic surgery... I think that going to such lengths as being probed and having fat sucked out of you is stupid. anyways I just excersize so I don't get fat... I like my body (don't take that the wrong way, I'm not in love with myself) Anyways I wouldn't change anything about my body if given the chance to have it done free with 0% chance of failure...

You should be happy with the body you have been given. I do not think any type of plastic surgery is acceptable, exceptions being for severely disfigured people maybe from a birth defect, or from a car accident or whatnot. Aside from the common sense advice of eating right so you do not gain unneccesary weight and staying active, any kind of surgical and invasive procedure is just, well, stupid in my opinion. And if someone truly feels that they need it to "feel better about themselves", then they probably have a deeper mental issue there that needs to be dealt with, not to be remedied by getting a nose job, liposuction, or bigger boobs.

The perfect body....

Let me shed some light on this for you. You all have forgotten on that the society today is based on appearance and how your social status is going. Everything revolves around you appear to everyone else and it is displayed as nothing else matters. It as thought the materialistic and physical aspects of society get to us and that is how we run our lives. With the wide array of surgeries and distributions of drugs, it is easy to find what we are looking for.

Sure, love your body and all that crap; however, what if you are insulted every single day on the way you look? The way your body is. You tried dieting but it fails. You tried everything else, it fails also. You are left with surgery. It seems that if it really truly makes you happy in the society today, it might as well be done. Sure, it is inhumane and we are toying with what has been giving us, but it doesn't matter when everyone else still hates you for it. Wouldn't you do the same in that situation? Most likely.

I also conclude that many people feel it needs to be done by witnessing the advertisements and all. Sure, they succumb to greater corporate giants, but it is in their will. We have freedom to choose what we want to do to our own bodies.

For myself, though. Never.

Ok I'm kinda scared how do you think up a 40 line essay on the good side of surgery... I really really don't understand what planet some of these people come from to be so smart...

Lmao!! Yes, I know I find it very interesting though. Some people are just gifted with that talent, the gift of eloquent speech I guess! Nothing wrong with that!

If it's painless, cheap, and ethical (if it didn't hurt anybody other than myself), I would do just about anything. Am I desperate? No. I just like to take opportunities as soon as they present themselves.

IMO i dont think that theres such a thing as a perfect body, its just impossible. People who belive they have perfect bodies are just out of their mind, for example models they may not claim to have perfect bodies but the people who worship them do and i think its just kind of stupid.

Exactly. Everyone's perception of the "perfect body" is totally different and is constantly changing with time. I mean not all that long ago, being "plump" was considered very attractive and was associated with a high social status!

We all have our own opinion on getting the 'perfect' body, so I think it can be done, but it'll be perfect in your eyes only [unless others agree with you].

I do not tend to go for a 'perfect' body, but see imperfections perfectly. Besides, I prefer an imperfect image as opposed to a perfect image, it makes me feel more comfortable in society. I'm completely whacked, I know.

If one wants to make themself 'perfect' I do not have a problem with it. I simply find that there is nothing wrong with one wanting to feel good about themselves. If surgery is what one wants to feel better about themselves then I'd support them. Afterall, it would make them happier, who's to argue one can't be happy?

A lot of people find surgery, make-up and things alike superficial, describing it as one hiding behind a mask or hiding from their true selves. I disagree. They're about making one more comfortable with themselves. I wear make-up sometimes, I don't do it to be shallow, but to just be more happy with myself. What's wrong in someone wanting to like themself more?

As for surgery, I don't think I would unless I absolutely had to. But, I'm not ruling it out entirely, because my opinion will most likely change over the course of a few decades. *Rolls eyes*

Phee, there is no such thing as a perfect body. I think you can be comfortable with yourself, and that's what matters. But everybody in the world cannot just say I APPROVE of one type of look, it's just impossible with todays standards of appearance, because they keep changing.

I think it's good to try and approve your appreance, but only through the hard-working way, and ways that are natural. Like exercising and having a healthy diet. I would never have surgery or anything like that to approve my appearance. Heck, I don't even use make-up. (Though everybody at my school do seem to think I'm strange for that. :P)

By the way, has anybody heard of the surgery for heightening/shortening yourself? It's disturbing. They cut through your leg, and add or remove what's needed. o,O

Actually, yes I've heard of that proceedure. Can't remember what it's called though. I'm short myself but I would never go that far to increase my height. Some things are okay but I would not want to cut into my body to accomplish anything like that. Tattoos and piercings are as far as I go in that respect.

The most I've ever really done is pierce my ears, but even that skin is starting to close over. I'd never use that surgery to heighten or shorten, it'd be so painful. I don't even know why people do it, it's like amputating a part of you. You can't even walk for a few months, I've heard.

Now that I think about it, I have used make-up, but only for really special occasions. I'll use it for really special school events, weddings, funerals, and that kinda thing.

Yep, look at Marilyn Monroe, she was quite hefty, and that's why people loved her and found her attractive. It's all about the now, what people expect now days, what people find attractive in the now.

Im not thin, Im not by any means fat though ... but Im happy .. so to me Ive got the only body for me. But if I had money I think I would get a few bits sorted lol
