What's amazing about the library is here's a place where you can go in, take out any book you want. They just give it to you and say, "Bring it back when you're done." Reminds me of that pathetic friend everybody had when they were a little kid that would let you to borrow any of his stuff if you would just be his friend. That's what the library is. It's a government-funded pathetic friend. That's why everybody bullies the library. I'll bring it back on time, I'll bring it back late. Oh what are you gonna do, charge me a nickel?

It's just doing a public service, if you actually sit at the borrowing counter, youll be amazed at how many people actually borrow books, the invention of the computer did not make the book obsolete.
The only stupid thign about the library is that they never have any new books. only year old stuff no one needs.
Yeah, many libraried rely on donations therefore it gets new stuff slowly, it's free to take out book, theyre not making a profit so how do you think theyre gonna get new books ?
Exactly! And yet, you still have to pay for these useless, rusty books where no one is even bothered to read them up.

well, maybe other people are dying to read it and it wont be fair
but they could go to somewhere like Barnes and Noble, sit down with a book for about an hour, and read a brand new copy. That's what I do with manga and the nbew Halo book.
Some people would like to take home those books, mainly because they dont have time to spend at those shops, and you cant sit down at those places and just read a 1000 page novel...

I hate overdue fines for the crap noone is waiting to read anyways. I just paid like 20 dollars in overdue fines for a stupid article on enterprise resource planning that no one had ever checked out before me. Like there was a wait to read that one!
Nowadays people download thier books as e-books, libraries are dommed, unless they got internet acess, thats the only reason why i would visit one.
