What were they exactly??

I mean where did they come from, where did they go, and why did they attack Cosmo Canyon??

A couple of years ago I heard about a site that talked about them, but I never got a chance to see it.

Who do you think the G Tribe were?
 
The Gi tribe were an ancient tribe (Human?) who fought with the tribes of Cosmo Canyon, Seto was seen (incorrectly) as being a coward in these conflicts. As to what they originally looked like, I don't have a clue. But it would seem that in the past there were various tribal struggles for the Cosmo Canyon region, very much like the native American culture that the Cosmo Canyon/Red13 is based on.

Supposedly...(And I won't even pretend to understand the exact history)...The Gi tribe, as well as the Cetra; among others, were some of the first races of men to exist on Earth.
I don't recall if the game states exactly when the Gi tribe was overcome, but I know for a fact that Bugenhagen, as well as Red XIII's species are very long lived. And Bugenhagen states that the Gi tribe and the ancestors of Cosmo Canyon were enemies for quite some time.

So to answer your question...I have to go with the theory that the Gi warriors were among the first race of men.

This is the conclusion I have reached personally, because it makes the most sense, since Seto is not a major character
 
Cosmo Canyons inhabitance seems to made up of humans and Red's species. If you look at the enemys you fight in the cave, some are humanoid (Gi Specter's, the guys on broomsticks) and some are canine-like (cant remember the name). Other enemies such as the Stingers and snakes could just be general cave inhabitiance. My theory is they are just another tribe similar to the 'Cosmo Tribe', that reside in another canyon futher north of the Cosmo Canyon but due to the war that is said to have taken place they may have been wiped out. Obviously after death, the Gi Tribes dead bodies mutated into monsters you see in the cave, distictivly seperating them from the 'Cosmo Tribe'.

But yes its nothing more than a minor backstory for Red, that had no intention of being developed futher.
