Summoner Yuna
The pirate and the princess
Ok, so we all like Final Fantasy (that's why this forum exists
) and gather here to discuss it, therefore we are all part of the FF fandom. Places like this allow for discussion, to post your theories, what you like and dislike about the series, etc. However we, naturally, sometimes have different opinions and views. However some people in the fandom or specific sectors of the fandom become too elitist and narrow-minded. FFF is actually a pretty democratic place and that's why is one of my favorite places to discuss FF with other people who share my interest. But as I said, some sectors of the fandom are way too elitist, and forums other than this one (which is a good forum) have elitism in spades. I won't mention any names but there's this other forum where it's practically taboo to like anything from FFVII onwards. To them FFs I-VI are the only ones worthy of attention. Pretty much having a positive opinion of FFVII nets you the label of fanboy. I'll agree that FFVII, FFVIII and pretty much every FF in existence has it's legions of fanboys who think it's perfect in every way and don't want to see its shortcomings. But there are people, who actually give valid reasons for liking an specific game, even if said game has shortcomings.
So I think it would be healthy for the community in general to remember that elitism doesn't contribute anything to a discussion about FF or anything else.
Sorry for that long rant, but I felt I needed to get that out of my chest, because I love FFF and I'd hate to see it degrade into one of those places where you can't voice your opinion without being hassled.
