What say you of the Elder Scrolls series of games, what do you think of them. I've only played Morrowind myself, are the previous 2 games worth buying, and is it worth kicking my computer into shape to get Oblivion to work?

For one... you don't need to buy but one of the two previous games. www.elderscrolls.com should have Elder Scrolls Chapter 1: Arena for free download. Daggerfall is hard to to find and only works on DOS and requires a crapload of patching to play it correctly, but is definately worth all the time and effort to get it and get it running, as Daggerfall is widely regarded by PC gamers as the best CRPG of all time. Currently, a mod is in development to upgrade Daggerfall's graphics to DirectX 9 and make the game playable on newer systems, but I don't think it's quite complete or available yet.
As for Oblivion... In my opinion, it is VERY worth it. However, side effects of Oblivion include:
1. Strong urge to play all the other Elder Scrolls games to TOTAL completion.
2. Strong urge to find and download upgrades to the graphics of the previous games upon finding that the games are dated.
3. Strong urge to recreate the previous Elder Scrolls games in Oblivion upon finding no downloadable graphics upgrades except for Morrowind, which was brought to your attention by your noticing of the dated graphics of these previous games, which in turn was led on by side effect number one.
Lather, rinse, repeat as neccessary.
Oh please... 'Good' is an understatement!'kin 'ell.
Good then?![]()
Oh please... 'Good' is an understatement!
Arena and Daggerfall allow for probably ten times more freedom than Oblivion and Morrowind combined, which you'd love if that's the aspect that attracted you to Morrowind (and as an added bonus, Daggerfall was one of the first ever TRULY 3D games, if not THE first). Oblivion doesn't give quite as much freedom, but the graphics, gameplay, and controls are much better than Morrowind's.
Yeah... I noticed one considerable glitch... I was in the Dark Brotherhood, doing the quest where you have to locate and kill this VERY 'high' elf in the Imperial City, a mission I have since done many times before. After pinpointing the EXACT house he is at, getting to it at the CORRECT time, I entered and... Nobody was there.Oblivion was a bit of a disappointment for me. Not enough inventory to find/buy. I've got to admit though the scenery and graphics are amazing.
Also too many glitches, though that may have been fixed now.
