Ok so while I'm asking stupid questions, I may as well get this one out of the way, as again, it's something that has bugged me for a while

When the gang are in the hotel at the Gold Saucer, Tifa says ''I dont even know what the black Cape is''

Is that just poor translation or is Tifa really a dumbass?? It has bugged me for as long as I can remember. I just assumed that she was talking about the Black Materia, but usually my assumptions are just wrong

What else is there that just doesnt seem to make sense aside from ''this guy are sick'' lol......
 
What was the dialogue around it or what was the main topic of their conversation.
 
They were talikning about the man in the black cape being seen around, and Red XIII was asking if he was gunna go mad because he has a number like the clones. Its when the ropeway stops working
And Tifa just says ''I dont know what the black cape is''
 
Perhaps she is refering to everybody who is whearing one and what the black cape means they are. She won't know they are all ancients by that point.
 
Yeah she must have noticed that Sephy isn't really wearing a black cape, yet she still thought that all those random villagers were talking about him. In fact they were talking about all the clones. Really weird>_<
 
Sephirot does wear a black cape. Its the black hood and cloak he doesn't wear.
 
Ummm...perhaps it is...the ummm cloaks on those weird people that give you items....and she doesn't know what they mean or why they where them...Just guessing.
 
Chalk it up to poor translation. I think it's pretty obvious that they're rather rampant in FF7 by today's standards >.>

There's not much excuse for the statement she made.
 
I'd say its a mistake. Throughout FFVII you can notice shit loads of stuff like that. These are mysteries that will probably never be solved, unless Crisis Core can shed some light.
 
Probably a grammatical error. Instead of "I don't know what the Black cape is!", I think it should be read as "I don't know who the people in black capes are!". Makes sense that way... I think?
 
It's probably just poor translation. Keep in mind this game came out 10 years ago, so I think that's all it really is. Tifa just didn't know who the people were in the black capes and she probably didn't know what they were either. It was very early on in the game when she said that. They just sort of chose the wrong words on her behalf, I expect.
