ShinRa Guard
this is the begining of a book I'm trying to write set in a Final Fantasy style universe, I curently am experencing writers block so suggestions are accepted, so here it is
“What was I thinking running head long into a trap that I knew was here, now I’m just laying here in a slum with a sword to my throat at least it would be quick.”
Part 1: The Mighty Amongst the Meek
Chapter 1: …(no name yet)
Then a flash of light, the sword that was at the boys throat lie on the ground shattered and a man in black armor stood before him. All the ruffians lie still, yet he still felt uneasy having such a powerful savior but he knew that he had to thank him for his deed.
“T..t.tthank you for helping Me.” said the boy meekly.
The man in black said nothing but instead acted as if waiting for something or someone.
“I said thank you.” the boy said this time with more confidence.
“Leave now” the man replied with some hostility.
“Why?” questioned the boy
As the words were leaving his lips a man in a dark green hood appeared.
“Why hello brother I see you have brought the bait that we needed. I knew you would come around sometime.” said the man in the green hood.
“This does not concern the boy and I shall have nothing to do with your plot either” said the man in black while pulling his sword out fast enough that the boy barely saw him move.
“What plot does not concern me?” the confused boy asked.
“I’m sorry to here that Cid” said the man in the green hood whilst pulling out his own sword. The two warriors clashed, both seemed to have inhuman strength and speed. The boy watched in awe as each warrior displayed incredible skill and cunning. After about three or four of intense minutes of hand to hand combat the man in green pulled out a blue fist sized crystal which he held high as it started to glow, bolts of energy shot forth from the stone the man in black apparently called Cid just being able to dodge the bolts charged in to strike the stone but is thrown to the ground. The glowing subsided the man in green walked to his brother and said
“I’m giving you one last chance Cid, either join me or face imprisonment.”
“I’d rather die Clayton, but I can‘t die yet.” Cid answered while getting up armor cracked, and blade notched.
“Then so be it, I’ll give you one last chance to change your mind, contact me within a week” the man in green now known as Clayton said whilst tossing a small clear orb to Cid and then faded away in a puff of smoke. The boy was uncertain of who they were or what there history was, but he knew he didn’t trust Clayton and wasn’t sure about this Cid either.
“Who are you” the boy questioned
“My formal title would be Major Cidofilis Hyrel formally of the ‘Black Sheep Knights‘ but recently I‘ve been known as Cid Gravoux, now who might you be? “ Cid said to the boy.
“My name is Isaac no title or last name” said Isaac.
“An orphan eh, well we have at least one thing in common neither of us have any family left” Cid replied
“But didn’t that man call you his brother?” questioned Isaac.
“I would sooner call you my brother than Clayton.” exclaimed Cid.
“Hating your own brother, sounds like a luxury to me, at least you now someone in your family.” noted Isaac while checking the bodies of the ruffians for loose change and other useful items.
“So do you know where the nearest armory or blacksmith is?” asked Cid examining his damaged equipment.
“yes there’s a blacksmith, but it’s across town but you’ll probably get lost.” Isaac said plainly
“I‘ll pay you 50 cill(the form of currency I chose) to be a guide” said Cid
“I guess I could go with you for now, it’s not like I have any thing to do now that those bandits have been dealt with.” agreed Isaac
“Speaking of, why were you in slum two hours after sunset, unarmed, while looking for a fight?” asked Cid.
“First off, I wasn’t unarmed I had dagger with me-” Isaac was cut off
“Ha! One kid with only a dagger against 5 heavily armed thieves, what was going through you mind when you planned this?” said Cid
“I had to they only attack those who they know they can-“ Isaac was cut off again
“Can overpower, so instead of telling the town watch about it you decided to come here alone” said Cid
“I I I……….damn” Isaac was dumbfounded he didn’t know why he hadn’t told the town watch.
“Well since you lack the ability to continue this argument shall we start heading toward the blacksmith” asked Cid
“ok” said Isaac plainly feeling rather defeated after there argument. They headed out of the slums and started to go South-West passing into the bazaar, being well into the night the bazaar was buzzing with activity while the smell of savory braised meats and sweet glazed fruit wafted through the air.
“So how soon can you pay me?” asked Isaac
“As soon as we get to the black smith” said Cid
“Could you pay me half now?” asked Isaac
“Sure, but why do you ask?” asked cid
“I’m hungry and broke ‘till you pay me” answered Isaac
“ok” said Cid while sorting a small bag of coins for Isaac
After receiving the money Isaac proceeds to the nearest food stand and bought some beef stuffed cabbage rolls which he then devoured in a matter of seconds.
