Who's ever dreamed of cruising along the autobahn at whatever speed you desire? I'm talking about the German highway system, of course.

I've ever only seen pictures and shows on TV of it in my life. I mean, I would like to go and it is apparently incredibly safe.

So let's talk about it here, eh?

Warbourne, I have dreamt of visiting that place... I have always wanted to got over 110 km/h. The fastest I've been is 150 during midnight on the freeway but only for like 10 seconds because I was afraid a cop is just lurking on the side of the road. Ironically, we can thank Hitler for the Autobahn
 
Dude, have you seen that one episode on Discovery Channel that showcased the Autobahn.
This guy was driving like 230 kmph and crud. It was awesome.
Cops don't even care or whatever.
 
I've heard tales of the Autobahn from my dad. lol.
I imagine it would be very scary with other cars around. =S

Cops only care if you run out of fuel. You'll be booked as being negligent if you run out of fuel on the autobahn. haha... and thats why some cops have porche 911's as cop cars :cool:

Like the 'ghost riders' who drive 250 kmph in the wrong direction? o_O
 
Which is like what? 80 mph.
Same over here, though everyone flouts it anyways, no one really cares, the cops themselves go 90, though I assume that's how they test how fast other cars are.

limit here is 120 km/ph

my top is 140 but I havent driven a lot yet (got my driver's license only a few weeks ago ><)

I can't wait to get mine though ^_^
Probably in about a year or so...I'll be tearing the highways of the Interstate.

^ will I be expecting to see you on "World Wildest Police videos?" haha I can just imagine it... then you just bailing rom the car and an infra red image or whatever they use in the helicopters of you running lol...

Those things are pretty cool though, those infrared things.
I'd be a cop just to fly on a helicopter watching chases on the Autobahn, it's like watching the Indy 500 or something =\
 
Well, the Autobahn does have areas with speed limits. Also, you better have a car that can handle high speeds.

You can only go as fast as you want on the places with the infinity symbol on it, right? =\

You are correct. It is only allowed in areas where the amount of traffic is not high. The interesting thing is accidents are rare. But as expected, from those speeds, usually the accidents, that happen, can be pretty dramatic.
 
I've also heard about the 'ghost riders' apparently suicidal or drunk drivers who speed the opposite way, you know if that's true, Koloth?

Wow, 155mph? One day, just one day I'll go to Germany and drive there.

I wonder if cops do bother to stop people that are driving 120 over the limit. They do drive Crown Victoria's which has a V8 engine.

There's a highway in the US as well, I don't know if it still allows this, but a certain highway in Montana, I think, allows you to drive without a speed limit.

No, apparently they don't on the Autobahn. They do if you run out of gas though.

I'm not driving to Montana. >_> I wouldn't except Montana because it's a very mountainish area. I would think Texas though because it's very flat. Speed limit is 70.

Yarg. I love the Autobahn. But you have to be over 20 to get the special license to be able to drive on it, because you know, you need to be really skilled at driving if the polizei expect you to be safe during the runs.

Also, it's legal to pass police there, I've seen it on Discovery. :D
Looks pretty awesome!
