I was wondering if my fellow FFForummers like art. Do you have any painters, sculptors or other artist you really like? Do you visit museums often?

Personally I really like paintings from the Barok era (17th and early 18th century), and Caravaggio is one of my favorite painters. I really like the contrast between light and dark en the strong emotions in the paintings. It is hard to pick one of his paintings as a favorite, each on of them has different characteristics that makes the painting great.
Paintings from the Romantic era (19th century) are also quite good, they often feature nice landscapes and ruins. The prints of Goya are also really beautiful, I still want a replica of one of them to hang in my room.

I haven't visited a museum in a long time now, but this summer I want to go to Paris to visit the Louvre again or to New York and check out a lot of museums there.

I'm actually starting to enjoy and appreciate both classic and modern art. I like classic art (Rennaisance, Baroque, up to 19th century) because it displays the kind of realism that you don't really get in more modern avant-garde works. On the other hand, I think modern art explores more concepts to their fullest so that a viewer could interpret the painting or sculpture or whatever however way he or she wants it.

Favorite painters...pretty much everyone. :wacky:
I love the Dutch masters. Rembrandt comes to mind. Rennaisance painters are generally so good at anatomy that it's almost unreal. I really like the feel of all the great Impressionist painters like Monet and Manet and Toulous-Lautrec. In fact, I think their influence is rubbing off on most of my work where I have to use color.

Modern painters...probably Picasso, Klee, Kandinsky, and Dali. Hopper too.

I pretty much have the same opinion on modern and classic architecture.

I'd say im most definatley prefer classic art, but I also do like some forms of Modern art such as Andy Warhol's work and even Pop art.

Unfortunatley I'm not a Museum/Gallery type of person and tend to find I dont visit them often, mainly due to not liking some of the types of people they can attract, it does not mean that I cant find the time to admire the work in other ways however.
