If I am correct, Final Flight of Osiris has the most direct ties to the three Matrix films, being an untold story until it was finally animated into a short. I thought it was kind of fun watching what canonically happened while playing as Ghost/Niobe in the video game Enter the Matrix.

My favorite of all the episodes was The Second Renaissance. Ever since I've seen the first movie, I never stopped wondering how this all began, right when Morpheus claims that mankind "scorched the skies." Given that its title alone already gives the feeling of "rebirth" and "revolution" I think this animation provides a perfect backround story to the world of the Matrix, and everything about it was extremely gratifying. Indeed, it was probably one of the most violent episodes of Animatrix, it kind of brings up the question of what mankind might have done in the situation. Man vs. Machine, or Man vs. it's own creation? Morpheus was right: "Fate, it seems, is not without a sense of irony."

I love everything about the animatrix. But my favorite is also The Second Renaissance. I always wondered how everything happened too, so this was the perfect answer xD

Even the anime short is so full of despair and a sense of defeated pointlessness, it starts to make you think about if that really could happen or not xD

I love the animatrix, every short was fantastic, my favorites would be The second Renaissance, the kids story and the last one cant remember the name of it...lol but it was good

As a big fan of the Matrix Trilogy, it was good to see how Final Flight of the Osiris and The Second Renaissance intertwined with the movies and made the story complete. Being a fan of Anime, my favourite shorts were: Program, Beyond and A Detective Story. Being a fan of the Matrix Trilogy, however, my favourite shorts were deffinately Final Flight of the Osiris and The Second Renaissance.
