Look, I was a member of the forums in '02. And now it's being ruined by this bullshit. Forum means open conversation, so lets stop this password nonsense please mods?

I love being a member here but this is very, very wrong.

Either way, lighten up and let them play their game. These things do detract from the main focus of the site but they are the original new ideas that will keep this place around for a long time. People get burned out on FF. If they don't have something else to do, it'll just resort to people bitching at each other. Right now FF posts have been down so something else to occupy their time is really a good idea. It'll keep them busy.

Aztec, that was not called for. If you as a "Global Moderator" accept this little game then thats fine, but here is a little tip, remove their posts from the LAST 5 POSTS list in the upper hand of my screen when we members log on, it will save a lot of time. If you had, I would not even be posting this.

First off, be respectful. Secondly, I have no clue what your talking about. Did you actually suggest that I, as a global moderator, should have somehow edited the coding that can only be accessed by administrators? I certainly hope not.
 
No disrespect was intended. I am angry though, but not at you.

This is why..... and I hope the admins, or mods will listen.

When I visit these forums I usually post in the room I want to visit, at the moment that is the FFX room. Sometimes, however I like to see what the latest posts are (The 5 listed at the top of the screen).

Now, there is no way of knowing whether these are "genuine" threads or part of a game, so if I go there and then I am asked for a password that is stated as not valid by admin then I wonder what the hell is going on. I know I'm not the only one who thought that there was a problem with my actual password.

I'm no spoilsport and agree that new ways of using the forums is a great idea, but this password thing is silly. It's confusing a lot of users. In short, it's ostracising the many for the sake of a few, as I said earlier, that's not what forums are about.

Hey, do what you want, I certainly can't stop you, but thats why it's pissed me off.

Again, nothing personal Aztec.
 
Im doing the same thing lol. The games became underway when I was ofline for the last few days, so logging on and finidng new threads is exciting. However I too got confused when I noticed that they werent part of the mainforum, but just the games part.

Maybe Busta will do something about it. Im not 100% enjoying these games as there isnt as much posting going on elsewhere on the forum, so it means no fun or interesting threads or posts are being made.

But at the end of the day, its just for fun.

I personally have nothing against the survivor game thingy, but when the 5 most recent posts are only about this competition, non-stop for about a day, it can get a little bit annoying, it would be cool if there was a seperate forum room for that kind of thing, in which the recent posts aren't recognisd or something.....but anyway, i still think that this contest is a fun idea...:D

Thanks for the backup Cactuar and Saph, as I said, I have no problem with people trying new things but this password thing/spamming the top 5 is really, really shit. Feedback mods?
 
No offense, but if you were active enough and paid attention to the goings on of the forum, then you would have known a long time ago what was going on here, and what the whole shizzle was with the password.
And is it so hard to click "New Posts" rather than refresh your page and look in the status box?

One problem I have with Survivor, is that all of the members picked are the most active members. Which is all good for the game, but the forums have taken a blow for it. If this is ever done again, then I recommend leaving at least some of them out of it, purely to keep the forums going.

EDIT: Also, if you don't like it then fuck off somewhere else. :monster:

This is getting worse. I see a topic in the top five that sounds really interesting but I can't participate. Perhaps its just me or do you get the feeling that this is all about raising peoples post count?

I really don't want to be a marter but I am seriously thinking of leaving this great site. There are only so many times I can see a thread that sounds interesting only to be told I can't partake because it's a game that I'm not allowed to take part in.

I'll give it a couple of more days but if the top 5 is still spammed, I'm out of here, and I'll be really, really sorry to do that as I love these forums.

Here's a simple suggestion. Remember the names of all people taking part in Survivor. If you see a topic in the top 5 that has been replied to by one of them, don't click it.

I can see where he is coming from about the most recent posts but if I click on it, realize it is Survivor then I just press back and keep looking. (Just to let you know, you can actually see if the thread is in the Survivor section at the top when you are in the thread so you should check before you attempt to post). This Survivor isn't my thing so I tend to ignore it a lot unless there is an interesting topic in there that is worth a read but like Pooley said, the rest of the forum has taken a bit of a nose dive with the most active users in Survivor. Once they are all back this place will probably be flooding with new posts. :D
