This was my first RPG and definitely remains one of my favorite games to this day. I loved the whimsical nature that Nintendo injected, but also the definite Square hallmarks of a complex plot (well not that complex... it was a complex plot for a Mario game, anyway) and a great battle system (this game was one of the first to have the concept of timed hits).

It was of an amazing quality for the SNES and had a soundtrack composed by Yoko Shimomura (composer for Parasite Eve and Kingdom Hearts).

While this game was overshadowed by the release of the Nintendo 64, it still garnered lots of praise and has gained a definite cult classic status, somewhat like Earthbound.

Anybody else love this game?

This game was one of the best made. I never got to finish it, mainly because i never had a super nintendo, and the emulators never played all the way through. The whole concept of it was genius. I actually got a hold of a super nintendo and the game recently, and i plan on playing through this time around.

The gameplay wasnt that slow it was well advanced for the snes anyway and yes...i loved this game, the story and the battle system was amazing at the time..not played it in years now im gonna put it on my psp and try beat it again:P

I thought the game was phenomenal. I've played it numerous times and I'm thinking about playing it again after about 10 years :)

I still am wanting to get to play it again. I finally have the game and the snes. My only problem not is that I don't have the cord I need to connect it to my TV.

Super Mario RPG: LotSS

Has anyone played Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars wayyyyyyyyy*one year later*yyyyyyy back on the SNES? Yes it was made by the original SquareSoft. When you load the game, it shows SquareSoft right before menu screen.

Anyone actually remember this awesome game? (Even though it was kinda short and max level was 30.)

O.O I remember this game! I had a ROM of it! I loved this game! I like all Mario RPGs. But this is the best one imo. So much fun ^_^

I always liked this one, though I never really had the chance to go through it. the fartherst I have gotten was to get geno. I never had peach or bowser.

I had the actual game cartridge when I was like 10 or 12 years old. I beat the game once and only once. My party was Mario, Bowser, Peach. Peach was a tank for me. Had ultimate armour for her and she only took either a Miss, a 0, or a one 90% of the time. I remember fighting a hidden Final Fantasy boss on there called Culex. He was actually a challenge too somewhat. When you beat him, you hear the trademark Final Fantasy victory theme song. It was awesome.

I remember playing that game when I was kid, it was actually hard for me at first but after a few training sessions I was able to clear the game. I kept losing to those Axem Rangers and Bowyer.

Yes I've played it, and enjoyed it very much, played as much or more than any other game at the time, I enjoyed the Culex battle, really liked the music during it, and it was a real challenge, but Red Essences made it a lot easier. :P

That is quite an old game now, but a very good one, enjoy it more than the Paper Mario games, even though they have some wacky humor that, from time to time, I get a kick out of.

But Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars is much more fun, Bowser was easily my favourite character to use, so few games you can actually use him in (excluding any Mario sports games).

Oh, this game brings me back. I absolutely love it. Geno was always my favorite character in this game with Bowser and Peach taking second and third respectively. The design was great and all the small touches like the mine cart mini-game, the 2-d mario spirite in a psudo-3d world, etc. were wonderful. Still, there is a more personal reason why I love this game.

My father and I had a bit of a competition going on. We each started our own game file and were trying to beat the game first. Although I managed to beat Smithy (the final boss) first, he was the first to beat Culex (the optional boss). Of course, he spent several hours hacking away at Culex while I was at school and kept the system on so I could see it when I got home. :P

Still, I have fond memories of this game and my experiences with it.

I love that game! They should re-make it for the DS or at least make a sequel to it. I also am hoping they bring it to the Virtual Console for the Wii. That would give me a joygasim!

Well, Suikojin, there are the Paper Mario games...and Superstar Saga on GBA...and Partners In Time for DS...I think they're about as sequel as Mario ever gets, really...*shrugs*

I enjoyed it. The soundtrack was great too. I found it amusing that they got Square to make a Mario game, and guess what happens--Princess Peach is on your team wooping badasses, and blowing kisses to other team members (sorry Mario) and suddenly, Bowser isn't your archrival anymore; he's helping you too. Who would have thought? Square just loves those plot twisters.

Bah.

I like the Paper Mario series but I want another Square Enix and Nintendo collaboration for an RPG.

Guess I am asking for too much. >_<
