Heya, thought I'd register to drop this off.

I found the Sunleth Waterscape music which is in turn a remix of The Promise (...or since it's officially on the OST, you could call it an 'arrangement') pretty catchy, which led to this project.

Happy E3-camping for XIII-2 info/media. I know I will be. :P

edit: Duh, somehow I made a duplicate thread -> http://www.finalfantasyforums.net/showthread.php?p=929265#post929265 If a mod/admin could remove one or the other depending on which subforum is more suitable for this kind of stuff, I'd be much obliged.

I like it :)
Great remix. You should do more for final fantasy songs. Oh and you guys really did it in a studio O__O That's cool

Oh and yes, I really can't wait for XIII-2 E3 news

I'm majoring in Music Production & Engineering/Film Scoring at berklee - one of the perks students get is practice time every week (4 hours, first come first serve during summer) to do practically whatever we want in the studios.

I commandered the studio last week for this. The piano also sounds absolutely gorgeous alone, without all the trance-genre processing; I've been tempted to do some piano arrangements for various music game/game music thingamabobs over the months just to take advantage of the privilege.

'practically whatever we want.'

That's so fun!
I agree the piano part in the song is the best. I myself play the piano.

You sure you aren't saying that just because of who's playing it in the video? :P

lol no...
The thing about this song, the piano part is the best, especially in the 'Promise' version of the melody. Other songs like 'Blinded by light', the violin part is the best. I am talking about the core melodies of the songs. Arghhh my music theory is mediocre, sorry.

Ah, I get what you mean, you meant by musical elements and not instruments.

Yeah, I was really blown away by the XIII OST in general. To be quite frank I wasn't a big Hamauzu fan prior to XIII; and despite the help he got for XIII OST (not mentioned in liner notes) the overall package displays a lot of musical genius that perhaps stands up to even Uematsu.

Of course, music is pretty subjective, but that's my two cents.

Yeah. I wasn't a fan of Masashi Hamauzu either. I preferred Uematsu. But some of his works in FFX and FFXIII really impressed me. But I believe he can do better. I heard there are rumours that he is returning to compose XIII-2. I think that's great news. I am looking forward for more masterpieces :)

I think one of the bigger (subjective, etc) failings of X-2 was, in addition to the entire feel of the game changing, how the music was handled. You'd be hard-pressed to say the X and X-2 OSTs were part of a cohesive unit.

Considering Square is sort-of admitting they had quite a few lessons learnt from X-2, I'm wondering how the soundtrack will turn out for XIII-2. On one hand it could become more of the same; on the other it could turn out sounding completely unrelated again.

If anything, Hamauzu is a master of expounding on existing ideas though, so we'll see.

latest FFXIII-2 soundtrack from the trailer. It's very likely composed by masashi hamauzu. 0:18-0:50 is beautiful. One of the best melody I have heard in FF. Hopefully it's the main theme. I feel that FFXIII-2 ost should be more emotional since the game is supposed to be 'darker' than XIII, as they say.

I like some FFX-2 OST though. Memory of lightwaves, wind crest, 1000 words, etc.
