Before the story begins I am to give a little background info on it first.

The story takes place in the world of Aespra. It's a place where humans and demons alike lived in harmony and enjoyed the convenience of magic.

2016- In this year Goro Cain of the country Thelma became a tyrannical king and built the greatest army of men the world had ever seen. The king's goal was to eleminate all traces of magic, as he feared magic weilders would destroy all he had built. Thus he began the takeover of the world.

2027- King Goro had taken over a whole continent, destroying sources of magic and magic schools and practices.

2067- King Goro dies and his son Malcom takes over as the new king. The Empire had taken over 3 of the 5 continents at the time. The newly formed kingdom is remamed Thelmacain Empire.

2076- Underground magic schools begin to appear. A new law against magic is made. Anyone who uses magic is imprisoned.

2092- The underground magic group "Arcana" is formed and begins to challengeg the empire.

2096- The magic group grows to a massive size and takes over one continent. There they start to create their own culture.

2115- This is where the story takes place.

We follow a young man who is 19 years old and named Revilo Green. He is very witty and has trained with the best in martial arts and fencing. He takes care of his younger sister Seatha Green who is 16. They both live in the Thelmacain city of Lier. Revilo has taken care of his sister since he could remember and had worked for the Thelmacain empire for years as an asassin. Though now retired, he lives as an asassin for hire and owns a pub called Falicore.

CHAPTER 1: The Assassin's Apprentice

“I don’t want it.” Revilo Green responded to the man offering to sell supplies at his door.
“But-but.” The man stuttered. “It can increase your business tenfold.”
“Are you deaf?” Revilo asked in a harsh tone, his cold, green eyes shattering the man’s will to go on.
Revilo shut the door in front of the man. “Who was that?” asked Seatha Green.
“Another salesman trying to ‘increase our profits’. What a load of crap.” Said Revilo as he sat on a stool in his bar.
It was named Falicore and it had served as Revilo and his sister’s home for thirteen years. Revilo had run this bar since he could remember with the help of his neighbor Milo. Revilo had raised himself and his sister at the bar and had quite the experience in running the business, but this night, it was closed. “You could have at least heard the man through.” Said Seatha.
Revilo looked at his sixteen-year-old sister for a minute. She was always kindhearted and caring for others. “It shouldn’t matter to you.” Said Revilo. “Shouldn’t you be in bed?”
“I thought I would help clean the place up with you.” Started Seatha.
“To bed, now!” said Revilo in a tired tone. “You have school tomorrow.”
He watched his sister trudge up the stairs to their little apartment above the bar. All their lives they had lived in this bar. How much longer? Revilo thought. He began to stack the chairs up on the tables. One by one they went up. Revilo reflected on his past, how hard he had to work to get to this point. What’s it all for? He picked up a newspaper off the floor. It looked like there was an interesting piece on the cover. He read the title: Another Gets Arrested for Magical Use.
“Ugh. How long are they gonna keep this up?” he asked aloud. Boom! Boom! Boom! A knock came from the front door. “We’re closed!” shouted Revilo.
Boom! Boom! Boom! Another knock sounded. Revilo briefly opened the door. “We’re close la-“
He stopped what he was saying. He knew this woman. She was from a chapter of his past in which he thought had been over. “I see you’re doing well Green.” Said the woman as she let herself in.
She was dressed in all purple. Her hair shoulder length and her makeup dark, she looked exactly as Revilo had seen her last. “Can you believe it’s been a whole year Green? Times so hard to keep track of these days.” Said the woman as she made herself comfy in a chair taken down from a table.
“Why are you here?” asked Revilo in a low tone as he glanced up the stairs to make sure Seatha was sleeping. “You aren’t supposed to be here! We’re not supposed to see each other Raine!”
“Calm down Green, calm down.” Said the woman. “My, my how you’ve grown in such little time. I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t urgent.”
“Well?” asked Revilo. “Spit it out.”
“Draddots is dead.” Said Raine softly. “Assassinated…”
There was a long moment of silence. Draddots was the leader of an assassin group in which Revilo and Raine had belonged to in the past. He was the leader and teacher of everything they knew. “How could this happen?” asked Revilo. “Who could have taken down Draddots?”
Raine sat in silence. “He was the strongest of us all.” She whispered quietly…The four unstoppable assassins are only down to three.”
Revilo stared in silence. Seatha had never known his job as an assassin and he had tried the best he could to keep this life separate from her. “Hansel went missing two months ago.” Raine started. “Whether he’s dead or alive is up for debate…”
“Then that just leaves you and me.” Said Revilo. “Do you think someone is targeting us?”
“It looks like it.” Said Raine. “Whoever they are, they can’t be Thelmacain soldiers, nor can they be rebels of the magic camp.”
“You’re right. Our abilities are some of the last in this world.” Said Revilo.
He hadn’t talked about his summoning abilities in quite some time. Bringing up the subject made him feel uneasy. “But we do use ancient magic after all.” said Raine, her brow furrowed in thought.
Revilo glanced at the article. “You don’t think Thelmacain would try and-“
“You know that’s not true.” Raine interrupted. “We worked for them and gave them advantages over the magic cult opposing them. They wouldn’t turn on an ally."
There was another long pause of thinking. “I can’t put Seatha in danger.” Revilo began. “She’s not a part of this.”
Revilo dimmed the lights of the bar and headed upstairs to his room. Leaving Raine in the dark…

The morning was bright as usual. Revilo went to his closet and stared inside…It wouldn’t hurt to be prepared if something did happen he thought. He grabbed his black jacket and tried it on. He hadn’t worn it in a year. The rough texture seemed to mold itself onto him. He quickly put the jacket away and headed out his room to start breakfast.
The bar was quiet as Revilo scrambled eggs on the stove for his younger sister. He cooked for what seemed like thirty minutes when, Seatha came running down the stairs in her school uniform. “You hungry?” asked Revilo.
“You crazy? Of course! I’m starved!” replied Seatha heading for the door.
“I fixed breakfast.” Said Revilo.
“I know,” replied Seatha. “Your cooking sucks!”
“It does not!” said Revilo defending himself.
Seatha went over too the stove and turned it off. “Eggs aren’t supposed to be black Rev.” she said sweetly before turning and heading out the door.
Revilo sighed and dumped the black lumps of egg in a nearby trashcan. Raine came in, yawning from a closet.
"I thought you were gone." said Revilo in a slow tone.
"You thought wrong." replied Raine as she walked over to a bar stool. "I came here last night to tell you that we have a job to do. But I was rudely ignored."
"We aren't in work anymore." said Revilo. "Who's giving us a job? Draddots is dead."
"The Thelmas came to me. They need us to do 'one last mission'." said Raine as she grasped the handle on the stairway. "Come on, lets get to it."
"Wait, now?" asked Revilo.
He had to open the Falicore in a couple hours. "You know how these things work." said Raine. "If you oppose them the Thelmacains can easily imprison you, We have no choice."
Raine got up and headed towards the door. "I'll meet you at Draddots' old office. Thats where we begin." she said as she left.
