Suikoden!!!!!!!!! 1, 2, 3, 4 &5

who here loves the Suikoden series, tell me youre favourites and why!!!!

(all hail the Mad Prince Luca Blight)

The only one i ever played was on PS1 may of been I or II i can't remember, it was a looong time ago but i do remember it was a really great game, it had heaps of characters and a great story line.

I loved 2 as it was the first one of the series I played. Love the main characters Hero and Jowy, although I could see that coming with Jowy lol! I have 1,2 and 3, but sadly I cant play 3 as its an import.

I had 4, but got rid cause it was just dire, I traded it in for Shadow Hearts 2 and dont regret it! It was dire, the lead character ran like a penguin and it was appaling!

I have played Tactics yet, but I did see 5 for £20 second hand in my local game shop, which I may purchase when Ive done my essays as a treat.

yeah 2 was easily the best hey. awesome game that 1
best characters and coolest plot, you have to love Luca Bliight

(oh by the way the mighty boosh is a great show :D)

I love the Suikoden series. I own all the games, few artbooks and guides, and two soundtracks. I could probably play Suikoden II through with a blindfold, I've played it through so many times. :P But it's strange that this series never gets much appreciation, even though it has great games, like II or V. Traditional RPGs, good stories, soundtracks are good, and interesting characters. To be honest, when FFXII came, I was still playing Suikoden V through with a different star choice. And when I played XII, I wanted to switch V back, XII was too different for me.

Have played 1,2 and 4. 4 was average. 1 and 2 were brilliant. My favourite characters were Neclord, Pesmerga and Pahn.

Are they really any good I saw Suikoden V in gamestation for £18 but I read that it was slow paced and was too big in the city/towns and became bland.
It is kinda slow for few first hours, but then it gets going. It isn't said to be probably the best Suikoden game for nothing. :)

I prefer the first and second game to the latest ones. I have 3, but its the NTSC version, so sadly I cant play it. 4 was a shambles, the lead character ran like a penguin, I felt nothing for the characters, the HP system was ridiculous and the boats! Oh dont start me on the boats!

God knows why it was set in a different time than the first two. Viktor, Flik, these guys were ace characters and should of been in Suikoden 4.

I know! They were classic characters!
I cant say I liked any characters in 4 and found it really easy to get all the characters - the only difficult two were Ted and that guy in the fishing net. I remember in Suikoden 1 spending hours looking for the likes of Window and Crowley.

Just noticed that there is a Suikoden thread already.
So Im merging the 2. Please check before new threads are made please.
Thank you.

currently playing through Suikoden V, my first one, sadly, great game though

it's not so much about the fighting like FF is, it has stuff like 1-on-1 duels which requires you to press buttons rather then continuously bashing "attack" or "rune"

and also the map-based strategy fights with a whole army are a lot of fun

i also like how the "quests" or "missions" are made, you really need to run around to find stuff, in some RPG you just get told you go there, and it's impossible to go anywhere else, in this game you have way more freedom

financial this game is just awesome... in the meaning of gaining more is damn easy, if i compare it with FFXII where i thought getting money was a serious pain in the ass.. i'm quite delighted with this system

advancing is rather.. intrigueing
just leveling up, will make you stronger, but it's also important to increase your weaponlevels(upgrading them with the blacksmith), improve your gear(especially for your tank) and renew runes with something better when you get it
not to forget the training halls where you can spend points to improve one of your 2 main "skills" (stamina, attack, defence, magic, magic defence, agility etc..)

the story is long, just the way i like it, i'm currently playing almost 5 days, and i'm just past halfway, the usual game takes me roughly 2-3 days to complete... storywise that is, not sidequestwise

haven't regret playing this, however, i'm sure i will regret completing it... such a magnificent game..

this really is a must-have-played for the RPG lover
so far it's second on my "favorite game" list, right under FFX and right above WA4

I never beat one... >_< i've played a teeny bit of 1,almost finished 2,and almost finished 5.My favorite was Suikoden 2 because it was my first and was very fun and interesting. ^_^

How can you leave such great games uncompleted. I could never do that, if I start an RPG I usually go on to complete it unless I am stuck and cant find anywhere to do it.

Ive only played the first 2 for the ps1....im not even bothered about the ps2 ones as i just prefer the whole look of the first 2..Personally S1 was the best, great music (loved the song when gremio died),great story and great characters and the castle is also better (i could go on if i wanted too)

You obviously didnt resurrect Gremio - this is how its done
you have to get all 108 stars of destiny and keep them all alive, including Pahn - just level him up really high and learn Teo McDohl's attacks, you will eventually beat him. Then near the end battle Gremio will be ressurrected by Leknaat.

Suikoden II

This is one of my all-time favorite games, graphics are primitive and all, but the game is a blast ...

So anyone else played it?

Also, I've play Suikoden 1, you can also talk about that one cause they're pretty much the same...

I've played a little of Suikoden IV and Suikoden Tactics; haven't beaten either, but they're okay.

Although, isn't the Suikoden series from Konami
