K, so I just got a new PC with a pretty decent Nvidia chip and Intel dual core processor, and since I don't plan on getting a 360 or PS3 anytime soon, I'm gonna try my hand at PC gaming, mostly FPS's. Granted, I need to find a job and start building up my savings again...

The only PC games I have atm are Halo 1, Star Wars Battlefront 2 and Star Wars Republic Commando. Ones I plan on buying are Halo 2, Bioshock, Half-Life 2, Gears of War, and maybe Doom 3 and F.E.A.R. Not sure on those last two, since I tend to get freaked out a bit too easily :wacky:

So yeah, any other suggestions, or maybe an order that I should buy my list in? Oh, and don't bother suggesting RTS games or MMOs, I suck at RTS and have no interest in MMOs.

First. try Halo 1, if it won't work, scrap it or sell it to someone else... Reason being, I have a generally high-level graphics card (Nvidia 7600) and Halo 1 wouldn't work after I put it in, Apparently, graphics cards can be too technologically advanced for a game set in the future... :/

Now, my suggestions? Half-Life 2 Orange Box (it has Half-Life 2 + Episode 1 + Episode 2 + Team Fortress 2 + Portal), Bioshock, Oblivion (just 'cuz it's an awesome First-Person RPG), and possibly Gears Of War and Halo 2. (I know I'm not a big fan of Halo, but my biggest irk about Halo 2 was the buggy graphics on the Xbox version, which I think are fixed for PC.)

Just keep in mind that for Halo 2, you gotta pay monthly for multiplayer. Quite the killjoy.

Gay. I actually haven't gotten around to installing it on my new comp, so I should check that.

I've been told to get Orange Box already, and I definitely will.

I'm not paying to deal with whiny 13 years olds camping at spawn points.

RTS, MMO - Have no clue what those mean. XD

But as for computer games, all I can suggest are Starcraft, Diablo (especially the expansion for II), and Tomb Raider 1-3.

it's too bad you don't like RTS's, since Dawn of War is so awesome.

as far as FPS's go, if you've got the orange box you've got TF2, so your bases are covered. That also means you get portal, which is also awesome. Halo sucks.

RTS is Real Time Strategy, things like Diablo and Starcraft. I'm just very bad at those types of games. MMO is Massively Multiplayer Online, like World of Warcraft. I don't like those simply cuz I detest the idea of paying bi/tri-monthly fees to keep playing something I've already payed a good $40 on.

I should get Tomb Raider, then I can get all nostalgic about how Lara's boobs were so pointy she could have stabbed wolves to death with them xD

*EDIT* Damn people and their ninja'ing me.

I've just never been good at RTS's and I don't have the patience to learn xD

Now please tell me you're not one of those anti-Microsoft gamers who despises Halo simply so they can sound cool. True, Halo is not the holy grail of FPS's, there are better ones. But the gameplay is solid and it's damn fun to play.

I do know of at least one free MMO worth playing, but it's about golf. XD

Well, it's just cartoony enough to be fun. If you haven't had a taste of the orange box yet though, you have a while before you need to waste time with MMO's.

Oooh, sorta like how Hot Shots Golf is then :wacky:

I doubt I'll ever need to waste time (and money) on MMO's if I get the orange box. Now I just gotta find a place that sells it for less than $48.99...

Well if it's FPS you want try these:
Quake 4, Doom 3, Clive Barker's Jericho(reviews say this one is quite bad....but I actually enjoyed it :D), Painkiller, Painkiller Overdose, STALKER, Timeshift. And these are all the nice FPS games that cross my mind at the moment. Yeah I know they're all very violent and gory games...but that's what I like to play on my PC.:wacky:
As for RTS....try Dawn of War like Ryvius said. It's not the every-day RTS....it's quite ....fast for an RTS....You just ask for troops and they're given to you and go kill.:wacky: And at the moment it has 7 different races...plus two more in the coming sequel.

I'd definitely recommend Doom 3. I played it on XBox a few years ago, and it's probably one of the best FPS' that I've played.
Unreal Tournament 3 has just come out too, and that's pretty good. I haven't been on it much; just a demo at a mates, but it was good.

I forgot about Jericho. The reviews made it sound like it was just lacking, not particularly bad though. I forgot about the Quake games too.

I miiiight try Dawn of War...I've seen lotsa Warhammer screenshots and wallpapers, and it looks pretty badass for an RTS. And from what I hear the story is quite win as well.

I'd definitely recommend Doom 3. I played it on XBox a few years ago, and it's probably one of the best FPS' that I've played.

Guess I'll be getting Doom 3 eventually too then :wacky: I forgot about the Unreal series too <.<

VengefulRonin should play World of Warcraft with me! :elmo: We can pwn n00bs in battle grounds. I can hook you up with phat lootz and epics!

No :pikamon: I'm not leasing out a damn game. If I buy a game that should be IT, no stupid bi-monthly fees and crap like that so I can keep playing.

Omg no ones said Shadowrun yet!
Get Shadowrun its an FPS with magic better than Halo 3 I think. Its for the PC and 360. Go watch some gameplay trailers youd probably like it.
Its alot like counterstrike but with magic

There's a reason I haven't mentioned Shadowrun. ^^; Shadowrun is based on a pen-and-paper RPG series. And is Shadowrun an RPG...? No... They bastardized it into an FPS, most likely with a very lacking storyline, if it has one at all, plus, like Halo 2, pay-to-play multiplayer.
