Starting FF8.

Hey everyone.

I never actually finished FF8 when it came out due to moving aswell as other things.
Anyway I came across the game the other day in one of my storage boxes so I thought I'd give it ago.

Only to find Disc 1 and 4 missing so I had to download them and put them on disc >.<(Apparently this is allowed if you own the original or so the dude at GAME told me)

Anyway so I'm at the part just before you go in to fight Ifrit for the exam.

I have 100 of each of these spells on both Quistis and Squall

Scan
Cure
Fire
Thunder
Sleep
Blizzard

Wondering what level should I get to before fighting Ifrit?
Think there lv 8 and 9 at the moment.

Any advice for the game would be GREAT!

You should actually be good to go to whoop on Ifrit. If ya really wanna get over powered for the SeeD exam go down to the beach and fight Fasticalons get 6Ap a fight gos way to boost up you GFs and get Shivas ice refinery ability to refine the fins the Fasticalons drop into Waters good magic to junction to Strength
P.S. Just started it last week on disc 2 now had some good advice for magics and leveling though most enemies a piece of cake.

Well, I can only say that in general, the FFVIII game system is set up that the enemies level up along with your party; i.e the average level of your current party is what the level of the enemy will be.

So it doesn't really matter what level you are when you fight Ifrit. In fact, given that Ifrit is the first boss, he's releatively easy; just use Blizzard and summon Shiva as your main offense and you should be fine.

If you have taken the time to stock 100 magics before even going in there, you will have no proble at all. The most I tend to is learn boost for Shiva and I can go in with 10 minutes and have several to spare, of coure, if you time it so there is like 3 or so seconds on the clock you will get a better seed rank for it

Ya long as the time don't run out during the victory dance. I had 17 secs to go when he died and they did that victory dance time ran out and said game over and I think my controller was Superman for a while cause it flew pretty far.

So it doesn't really matter what level you are when you fight Ifrit. In fact, given that Ifrit is the first boss, he's releatively easy; just use Blizzard and summon Shiva as your main offense and you should be fine.

Additionally, it's not very efficient to rely on levelling-up to increase your stats, in this game - you're better off relying on junctions. Levelling only slightly increases stats, nowhere near enough to have an easy time with the game.

If you have Shiva and she's learned boost, Ifrit will go down very quickly.
