Square Enix announced today that their second game for Nintendo's DSiWare service will be Dragon Quest Wars. The Dragon Quest series is massively popular in Japan, with the main series entries selling over one million units easily, sometimes even more than four million.
Dragon Quest Wars is grid-based board game featuring many of the iconic monsters from the series, such as the slimes. Each monster will have their own unique ability that will affect how the game is played. CPU, local multiplayer, and Nintendo WiFi Connection (WFC) will be available.
Intelligent Systems, most known for the Advanced Wars and Fire Emblem games, will be developing the game. It will be 500 Nintendo Points and will be released this June in Japan. Square Enix has brought over most of the recent Dragon Quest games, so it's likely that the game will be released in North America and Europe, unlike their first DSiWare game, Mr. Brain.
