Square Enix have shown that their power and influence in Japan is something to be reckoned with still, with two of the top five selling games in Japan in 2009 turning out to be their two flagship titles for the year.
Dragon Quest IX topped out the list with a whopping 4.1 million units sold, while Final Fantasy XIII claimed fifth place, selling 1.69 million units before the end of 2009.
Looks like Square Enix is still the second most powerful gaming company in Japan after Nintendo, who had four of the top five titles released on their console.
More as we get it.
