How about the sports genre of gaming?

How many of you actually play NBA Live or NFL Madden or FIFA World Cup --> *I seriously wanna get this game for 360*?
What do you think of the genre in general?

I think it's a great idea that they came up with this genre decades ago. Obviously it was inevitable that they milk as much as they could from the sports cow. But hey, it was good and many people I know are benefiting from these games.
I learned how to play football playing Madden!!:D

Ugh my bf owns every single madden game ever made. lol.

Even the 1990 one?
Now that's a hardcore gamer if I ever saw....erm, heard of one.
I'm thinking of doing the same thing but starting with the '04 one and collecting 'till I die. Lol.

Seriously.

The only sporting games I ever liked to play were NASCAR ones. Racing was always fun for me. I don't like it as much anymore. Kind of lost it's appeal.

I tend to play the Pro Evolution Soccer/Winning Eleven games, but they've sort of being losing their spark for me, Pro Ev. 2 was probably my highlight of the series. Apart from that....not really. I haven't bought a FIFA game since FIFA '99, the only basketball game I ever owned was NBA Street ( which was friggin' ace! ). I tend to play extreme sports games more so, I still love SSX Tricky after these years....an awesome game.

Started with Pro Evo 4 which was good, 5 was a nightmare so score in which they fixed in 6 but I hate not having the proper full names and Leagues which is a massive downer and even the Master League loses appeal after completing 3 identical versions of it. Won't touch FIFA, last game I played was 2003.

Tony Hawk's was another I used to delve into but wasn't very good at that so my full enjoyment was hampered somewhat.

Potentially the worst genre in videogames. It's home to the most overrated series of all-time: Madden.

Sports games are shallow, dull, repetitive (c'mon, developers--give us something other than revised team rosters and team/player statistics) and generally not very fun to play...

My opinion, of course. Time is better spent actually playing that sport.

Racing games are perhaps the only ones that change. I mean come on, biiiig difference from Nascar 2008 to MotorStorm. XD

That NASCAR 2008 game is probably the same game as NASCAR 2007, but with different car designs and drivers. XD
