Did anyone get the feeling that the ending left you hanging? I'm sure it was all cute and whatnot with them all getting back together with Dajh and Serah, but I thought the game came up short in that sequence when so much of the rest of the game was built up on stirring up a great deal of emotion in the player.

I would've like to have seen the wedding, for instance. :hmmm:

Overall I didn't think the ending did a very good job of wrapping up the narrative, and not in the way where it's wide open for a sequel.

Thoughts?

I really agree with you Jay! I wanted to see the wedding too. I thought it was gonna be after the credits >_< But no I guess they are saving it for a sequel. The ending was short but beautiful. But yes some questions still remain unanswered.

I dunno, I really liked the ending. The ending in a certain other game had a wedding, and I thought it was kind of drawn out, personally.

I think the ending was epic, but yet, I didn't really understand it enough.

Fang & Vanille, all this time were the key holders to save Cocoon? I was thinking it was going to be Snow, Sazh, Light and Hope you know? Because F&V (Fang & Vanille) were already crystals once, why would they have to be crystals again? I mean that was a big twist to the story, I always thought that Lightning would turn into a crystal, and then the game advances to a long time in the future and she awakens.

They all saved Cocoon. Fang and Vanille would've never been able to save it themselves had the others not helped them defeat Orphan. If they hadn't defeated Orphan, someone else would've eventually, and they probably wouldn't have been able to save Cocoon.

Also, they completed a different focus this time, I guess? The whole reason they were revived from the crystal state was because they got another focus, and it was the same as Lightning & Co. I believe. They may be awakened again, however, seeing as Cocoon has yet to be completely destroyed, and that seems to be what the fal'Cie want. However, the Sanctum fal'Cie are probably in shambles seeing as the power source of their leader, Eden, has been destroyed. God knows what's going on.

And apparently they all got turned into Crystal, but Vanille somehow woke Lightning, Sazh, Hope, and Snow. Possibly Serah and Dajh as well. Not quite sure how that happened, but whatever.

I really did like the ending. The entire game in general was beautiful. I liked the story as well, but like everyone else so far, I think that its not very clear.

The all turned into Ceth and then they weren't then they were all turned to crystal and then they weren't.

I do think that the game left you hanging.

I really loved the idea of Eidolons having a part in every ones life. I thought it was brilliant that they more or less called the shots for their 'pets.'

In all honesty I would have to say that Hope is the most developed character in this game. We know what drives him and I don't mean just the fact that he wants to get his brand off, but the real thing that drives him is he told his father that he would go on. That and we just know more about him it seems.

One thing I'm going to seriously rant on here so....

Is it just me or are characters in FF games getting unattached toward the players??? In earlier FFs you get to know the characters and you even get in their heads. You got to actually 'know' the character. I think that being able to hear the thoughts of the characters (and I don't mean just having them say what their thinking) helps you feel closer to the characters in general. The last FF game to portray this was 10. You get to hear Tidus' thoughts throughout the game and Yuna's later on in the game, which I think made more of an impact on the players. It's the same with all of them before 10.

I also think that Final Fantasy is beginning to rely a little too much on the fact that they now have voice actors and eye candy if they're not going to give storylines that can measure up to previous ones in the series.

And another thing... They need to higher new storytellers!! Before 13 all the games that I had played each had their own unique feel to it, but this one.... It feels an awful lot like 10. I mean having to become the thing that will destroy the bigger bad evil in the world.

I agree with a lot of your points. It's true...I think Squeenix do need to hire better storytellers or at least take a good long look at the series so far and decide to craft a better and more compelling story. I think XIII had that compelling attitude to it that draws you in in the beginning chapters but then it sort of loses its luster at the end. =\

Also...I don't think the fact that they all lost their l'Cie marks was explained properly enough. I don't understand how they just suddenly lose it once they beat Orphan. Orphan wasn't even the one to give them their Focus, so what power does it have to take away their focus. :hmmm:

I liked how SE didn't just wrap everything up to leave the viewer completely "full". I think it's cool that they left some things open-ended. It inspires the player's imagination to kick in (i.e.- day dreaming, fan art, fan fiction, etc.) or could even allow a sequel/movie to follow through.

It doesn't. Their focus was to destroy Orphan, which they did. So they lose their brands.

Didn't like the ending, until I heard Vanille say now we live on to greet a new dawn. At least that shows me that both V and F are still safe. My favorite characters, but I hope a XIII-2 comes out. I don't care what anybody says.

XIII-2

Oh okay, that makes sense. I wasn't thinking of why Fang just had hers mutilated somewhat but then I realized...yeah, she didn't complete her Focus so she didn't lose it.

But why didn't they turn into crystal? (The party). :hmmm:

I really liked the ending, I didn't actually expect that to happen. I had no idea what was in my head about what would have. But it was a beautiful ending aestheticswise and slightly in the context of it.

One thing I did not like was My Hands playing in it.
I loved the song, I saw through the whole game waiting for it to appear and then I came to the conclusion it would appear at the end. it did. and I don't think it fitted well into the scene, at least not until near the end when it gets all powerful and ladeeda. That's just my opinion.

Like a few people, I wanted to see a wedding and such, maybe see a bit of what things were like when they got back to normal. Like Hope going back home etc.
even if they just showed it in the side of the credits would have been enough for me!

They did. Somehow Vanille managed to wake them through telekinesis or something.

That part's not quite clear, but they did turn into crystal.

I agree with most about how the ending was kinda confusing.

Why did they attack orphan if they knew killing it would destroy cocoon? It's not like they had it all thought out in their heads that fang and vanille were gonna become ragnarok and save Cocoon after killing orphan. And if orphan wanted to die so badly, why did it even bother fighting back (although it was very easy to beat for a final boss).

And when cocoons falling, Lightnings like "Cocoons going to shit so lets hold hands so we can all die together!" It's obvious that they had no idea that F&V were going to save the day and without that knowledge, decided to kill orphan nonetheless? Weren't they trying to foil Barthandelus's plan by not killing orphan?
