Spiders Everywhere

oh, an argiope! i knew i saw it somewhere on tv ^_^ but its better to play it safe when you dont know what you're dealing with.

and that Cobalt Blue Tarantula is beautiful. I WANT IT :wacky:

Haha, yeah, much better to play it safe. But feel free to poke an argiope with a long stick to piss it off...or just toss bugs in the net and watch it eat them, that's always fun :neomon:

Yesss, I want a cobalt too....from what I've read they're high-strung and only experienced tarantula owners should have them x_X

i dont see why people are scared of spiders, they are so small and pretty harmless

but snakes, those fuckers scare me:wacky:

I think it's the legs and fangs, or something. Whilst I was still horribly stricken with arachnophobia I figured out it was the legs that freaked me out the most. And after googling it, web-building spiders' legs are a tad ferocious. Here's a closeup of a garden spider nomming on a fly:

And what its feet look like under a microscope:

This site explains just how they use those foot claws to hold onto their web and such. Now as for snakes...I've always loved those buggers :neomon:

On another note: why does Imageshack suck shit now? Used to be it completely pwned photobucket, but now imageshack messes up on me daily and I'm always having to switch back over to photobucket.

i'II be sure to do both.

I'm not usually afraid of spiders, but this one scares the shit out of me.

they have 8 and they are tiny things that really cant hurt you. :neomon:

snakes on the other hand can be huge and crush you, or quite big and bite you, either way you die.
you could run away from a spider, but not a snake, they are deadly killing machines!!
how can people not be scared of them?

I like snakes :neomon: I have a picture of me holding one, would you like to see it in all its scariness? :wacky:

Can't say Iv ever come across a deadly one tho, they have only ever been pets :wacky:

Spiders are there one minute and gone the next

Oh my gawd, that is scary! That's why I hate spiders, especially special ones. >_<

Though, the colors are kind of pretty. I just wouldn't want to see that on my couch.

I've reviving this thread with some Deinopis, the net-casting spider, also called the ogre-faced spider.

I love how she's glaring at the camera, like she's trying to say "GET AWAY FRUM MAH MEAL BITCH!"

I would say I have arachnophobia too, I don't like most insects but especially spiders. They scare me so much and looking at pictures of them just adds to the fear rather than help it!

I think what makes them so scary is how long they're legs are and how quick they move, one could be far away one second then right beside you in the next! But it can also be slow/still so you don't really know what its going to do, and that's if it isn't hidden somewhere in the room. *shivers* They're overall appearance is just scary, especially the big ones.

I got this picture in an email, its terrifying. Even one of the little ones would scare me... Imagine this in your room it said!

I really like spiders too much now, I get bored and I google for pics of them. However, my searching tonight led me to a very strange spider, the endangered Sphodros rufipes:

Notice how long the mandibles are? They get weirder:

Quite the interesting spiders, really. Funny, now that I'm not arachnophobic anymore spiders fascinate me. Firefox doesn't think arachnophobic is a word, either. Retarded spellcheck is retarded.

"The spider didn't build a web, it built a hammock" :wacky:

That video is funny, especially the caffeine spider, afterwatching that I don't think I'll ever look at a spider in the same way again. I'm gonna give caffeine to a spider and then sing "You spin me right round baby right round" just to see if I have an effect too!

Watch this.

Haha, I've seen that before, it's possibly the only thing to make those uglyass orb weavers look cute.

The aurantias are FINALLY starting to build webs in the bushes now around our carport now, there's about four small ones in separate webs I've seen so far. I'm trying to feed them so they'll grow nice and fat and take care of the insane amount of bugs we've been having this year.
