Not entirely sure where to put this, so here it shall reside unless someone deems it more fitting of the spam coliseum. So this thread is for spider discussion along with plenty of pictures of spiders. If you like spiders, discuss. If you've got arachnophobia, exposing yourself to tons of spider pics helps with it...so arachnophobes feel free to shit yourselves in fear here.

I'll start this off with a lynx spider with possibly the coolest pattern I've ever seen:

It looks like someone painted on the thing :neomon:

*shits himself*

Yes, the tree hugging hippie has arachnophobia :elmo:

Oh well, lets hope that this thread cures this right on up :monster:

But, quick question, what exactly is the spider eating

It's eating a bee :gmonster:

I find a good way of reducing your fear of spiders is to find some aspect of them that's visually aesthetic or interesting. Take this lynx spider for instance:

It's little feelers or w/e look like they're feathery almost. Just kind of a weird, comical feature to focus on that wouldn't make it so scary.

awwwwwww...

its sooo cute.
uals
It's just teh big spidahs I has problems with, like, funnel webs, and trantulas (yeah, I cannae spel for crap

Ahhh, so you don't like the bigguns. Tarantulas never really bothered me for some reason...I think cuz they weren't bald. My favorite tarantula:

Ahaha, see that's how you gotta do it. Find something cool even if it scares you. This one is pretty cool too...no idea what it is though <.<

No you know how I feel about gantsas :neomon:

Anywho, we shall call it, mini-trantulah!!!!

I want teh colour for mah hair though, it rocks

the lynx spider looks more like it was carved out of wood to me! And tarantulas are my favorite. One time I saw a huge black and yellow striped spider outside my house. Being non-arachniphobic, I wanted to get a closer look but decided to let it be for I didn't know if it was poisonous or not.

I think this was the spider.

it doesnt look like I want to fuck with him...

Ack, those are some pretty cool-looking spiders, but I hate them...

Once upon a time, however, I used to be engrossed by them. This was back in the Philippines. I would always hunt for spiders with my cousins and bro, and we'd collect them in a jar and watch them fight.

We'd also take a little stick, put two spiders on both ends, holding the stick in the middle with one hand. When they travel to the middle, we'd switch our hand and hold it in the end. So really, it's also kind of like a game for us where we had to move our fingers around so it wouldn't bite us.

But now I can't stand them. =/

Ahhhh VR, is it not enough you spend half the night traumatising me with spiders that I get it when I wake up aswel o_O

I shoulda known not to click a fred called spiders really :wacky:

I'm not sure if I'm arachnophobic, but I pretty much hate spiders. I don't collapse and convulse if I see them though, I just scream and find a sandal to beat the son of a bitch with. :P

Screw that. xD

I scrolled to the bottom of this page real fast so I wouldn't be able to catch any of those pics. :monster:

Shit, I glimpsed the one of the tarantula on the hand.

I have arachnophobia too but also with the bigger ones. Also, VR, the blue one that you showed was probably a regular tarantula that just molted. I think that's what their color is once their old skin peels off (thank you Animal Planet)...

I think the worst spider I ever saw was a....okay, for lack of a better word, a bastard spider. xD
I have no idea what species it was but it was huge. Like...maybe a whole dinner plate across if you stretched the legs out. Pretty skinny though, but not a tarantula. I've thought it was a wolf spider, but it ain't. :monster:

I don't mind spiders in the sense that I can shoo them out of the bathroom, but I squirmed when I saw those pics. >< Didn't help that I was eating chocolate raisins and suddenly got the feeling that I was eating spiders. D:

hahahaha ewwww There is one in my hallway that looks suspiciously like a raisin, it has a big body and tiny legs o_O

o_o That's it... *burns raisins*

I hate the big ones that make a crunchy noise when you accidentally step on them. D:

Little ones, I can deal with, but big hairy ones = nooooo. As do the fat brown ones that live in the hedges in my garden. Whenever I used to fall into a hedge I would be shaking myself for ages incase I got spiders on me. ><

Oh god.... I feel like they're on me. D: There is a strand of hair that keeps tickling against my neck and I keep having to whack it away. >_> *paranoid*

Ugh, I had one on my door once yeeears ago, so i grabbed it with some bog roll and felt its body pop. I almost threw up it was so griss >_<

Sounds like an argiope, they aren't poisonous either.

I quite hate those things. They don't scare me anymore, thank god, but I find them ugly as hell. I think it's their legs I dislike the most. I do like their web designs though.

That does not sound safe :neomon:

Well they're called cobalt blue tarantulas (Haplopelma lividum), I tried looking up that thing about molting but I can't find anything on the bloody species except tips on how to take care of them and what their bite will do to you. I did, however, find a video of one molting, and it's old carapace is quite dull in color:

oh, an argiope! i knew i saw it somewhere on tv ^_^ but its better to play it safe when you dont know what you're dealing with.

and that Cobalt Blue Tarantula is beautiful. I WANT IT :wacky:
