In anticipation of FFXII I recently decided to start playing FFX again. I haven't played in over two years and originally I stopped playing about three quarters of the way through. I don't have my original memory card anymore so I can't start from where I left off, so I'm having to start a new game.

But I can't for the life of me remember what the differences between beginners and expert sphere grid are, I sure as heck can't remember which one I chose way back then. So my question is which one should I use? Sorry if it's pretty stupid :P Will choosing beginner significantly handicap me, or will it make the game easier? My main concern is just getting through the game as quickly as possible, FFX was never one of my favourites in the series but the pedant in me wants to get it out of the way. Thanks for any insight you can offer.

If you think you can strategically plan your way around the Sphere Grid, the I suggest expert. If saving time is your goal, the standard sphere grid is advised - that way you don't have to choose which direction you go ;)

I've no idea if I can strategically plan my way hence the question =P Although if I don't know whether I can I suppose that means I probably can't lol. I suppose I'll just use beginner then. Thank you for your help.

It's not as simple to plan it using beginner because of the locks and the lack of sphere keys. Expert meant you could choose anyone to do anything automatically.
