Soul Of Rebirth bonus in Dawn of Souls?

Ok, got FF Dawn of Souls a while back, just recently got back into playing FF2 on it, and finally beat the game last night. Found out there is a extra part to the game after you kill the fugly emperor, called Soul of Rebirth. Has anyone played this bonus thing, and if so, did you get hopelessly slaughtered like I did?
 
Yes I have gottne to it but I've only managed to get upto getting Joseph and defeating Zombie Bergan (or getting Richard the Dragoon, whatever comes last). After that my characters are too weak to carry on. I think you need to have developed them abit in the main game to have a easy time in SoR, which ofcourse already knowing they'll bite then dust within the hour of getting them initially I didn't bother with doing. >_<
 
what I did on SOR is to walk around and just fight the crap out of enemys. Get everybody's magic way up and then use that to heal and fight. That part is really just a test of patience. Just wait till you get close to the end...then you will cry like a scolded school girl.
 
At first, I got beaten 5 times in a row during that first battle (the one with Minwu and the prince.) After I finally got through that, I fought whatever enemies I found. They still kept pwning me so I decided to just run. When I finally got Josef and Richard, I hightailed it outta the cave.

When I was in the village, I spent my gil on equips and potions. Then I went inside the first floor of Pandemonium and fought 'till I had enough gil to buy good equipment. I also suggest you take Ultima before going back. And, I don't know if you already checked it, there is a merchant who sells spell behind the waterfall in the cave.

I haven't played in a long time but I used Minwu as a healer (obviously), the prince (Keep forgetting his name) as a black mage, and Josef/Richard as attackers.
 
I wasn't able to finish it. My party was to weak. Though I kept fighting all the monsters, but they kept coming. Then I got weak and had to return at the start. I'm planning on playing this again when I get the psp version.
 
I barely beat the first fight between Minwu and Scott vs. the knights. After that, everything else was actually somewhat easy. Until I reached the town however. I literally had to train for like 5 hours before I could beat Ultima Weapon and then I had to train for about another hour to get through the castle. Was fun, but annoying at the same time. =/
