Someone help plz

Well I was trying out a code for FFXII for the gameshark and its to get 9999 license points for Vann (thats all they had) Now on the thing where it gives you the code it says press L3+select. Now I'm asuming L3 is L1 and L2 put together. Cause when I try it it doesn't do anything. So, how does it work?

L3 is when you click the left analog stick down, not when you press those two buttons down together.

You shouldn't use cheats though, it doesn't take long to get that many license points. I played through the game and I always had over 5000 points on everyone....
