They deal random damage like the Handaxes. However, people overlook their usefulness by using brute force. The ammunition deals status effects that benefit low level parties. Better to deal the status effect and damage as well.

Gabs, you're forgetting one thing: they are useless in low level games as guns are the only weapons that can do real damage. The actual affliction of status effects is also a rare occurence when facing foes with such high Vitality. Nihopalaoa and a remedy hits 100% of the time (unless a boss is immune to the effect) and ignores Vitality. Also, guns carry status-afflicting ammunition as well. Mud Shot, Silent Shot, anyone?

Even in regular games, I've never used them.

Huh handbombs.

No I cna't say I used them, well I tried them once and thought they sucked and switched back to balthiers gun. My opinion stats that handbombs are useless.
