Ive had a slim ps2 now for awhile and never noticed how damn hot it gets on its left side... i mean its reallyyyyyyy hot! not warm but hot! actually get close to burning my self.

wats the deal? i know the fan in there suks but it shouldnt be this bad after 30 or so minutes on turning it on... defective maybe or wat?

i heard keeping your lid open while the games running will help cool it down but the game wont run like that..

anyone else with this problem -_-?

Yeah, but it also depends on where your PS2 is, if it is in an enclosed place or something it could do that. Or you could just turn a fan on to blow on it while your playing.

My ps3 gets ridiculously hot, its not cool. I usually end up turnin it off incase it overheats or something. Youd think the fan ( if it has one) would cool it down ><

Lol i think Sony did that on purpose, i mean made the fans not work as well as they should in hope that the person who bought the system doesn't have a wrranty and would have to buy an entirely new PS when yours crashed. Mwahaha conspiracy theories.

I dont think a fan would work very well, all your doing is blowing the hot air back into the system.

and I have it in a some what open space enclosed on all sides but the front with a hole for the wires in the back.

but any ideas on how i can keep the lid open while playing?

Oh i know how to do that, you can do it with a pencil. When you push the button for the ps2 to open the tray, look where the prong the locks the lid down goes into place, there is like a button or something that if pressed down, will play the game. mwahhahahaha

What the above poster said is now certified and true. I attempted it and lo and behold it works. Though, it's hard to balance the pencil in there since the lock is so freaking small.....anyhow, to reduce the heat, all you need to do really is just have a fan blowing ON it, no in the fan, but ON it. It'll cool down the general temperature of the PS2.

Depending on the length of the pencil, you should be able to balance the pencil between the lock and the opened part of the PS2
