ever experienced sleep paralysis? is it something you experience a lot? and do you experience it during the time when you are falling asleep or when you wake up?

i can probably count the times i've experiened it on one hand. typically it will last a few minutes at most and the times i recall experiencing it were times when my quilt was partially covering my face. as im not a fucking idiot i do not attribute this to some spirit holding me down but it does make me feel very anxious. i will realise that i am not actually suffocating but knowing that i literally cannot move to take the quilt off my face will make me want to breathe deeper which of course i also cannot do which naturally makes me feel more anxious.

i also have a tendency to want to shout. eventually my mouth gets the message from my brain that "we want to be making noise" and i'll make a random noise. usually not very loud. if someone was to talk to me i'd be able to hear them but unable to respond which is quite frustrating. thankfuly the times i remember it happening it only lasted for a couple of minutes at the very most but ive read that some people who suffer from severe and frequent sleep paralysis can experience this sort of feeling for an hour at a time sometimes multiple times per sleeping session.

maybe an indication that i should be getting more sleep!

now you :toni:

A guy at work told me that his friend would often do this while they were watching a film or whatever. His eyes would be wide open and hed be calling his name but he wouldnt answer. Then after a minute he would wake up and say sorry i was sleeping but he heard everything that was said to him.
Cant say ive ever experience this myself but there have been times as weird as it sounds where ive woken up from a dream and its took me a few seconds to breath. I dunno if thats similar but it its a strange sensation. Il wake up and for about 5 seconds il be trying to get air but wont manage then its like i snap out of the semi dream mode and i gasp filling my lungs.

ehhhhhh ehhhhhhhh

All the time, and I'm able to power out of it. But sometimes I don't have enough energy to do so - as it likes to wake me out of a deep sleep. It usually happens when I'm sleeping on either of my sides, but never when I'm laying on my back. I can't sleep on my stomach so don't know it'll occur there. Sometimes it'll happen immediately after I got out of a previous one. Some are stronger in "force" than the other, pretty much freezing all parts of my body. I can scream and talk during these events, but my voice goes unheard - I can't even hear myself.

i've only ever had it while im laying on my back but i like how you've described it as not having enough energy. it definitely feels like that. that same feeling you get when someone is chasing you in a dream and your legs decide they dont want to work except it feels more intense than that. how often would you say you experience them? daily? weekly?

Daily, and usually 2-3 times a night. I once thought I could reproduce it but this thing is completely random. What's really scary about the experience is the pressure on my body.

There are some spiritual theories tied to this that I wont get into, ya know, religion and all that.

have you asked a doctor about it?

what are the spiritual theories and do you believe them? :hmmm:

Yeah I was just in bed thinking about random things and then all of a sudden I couldn't move... I tried to move but I couldn't... it was like, somebody pinned me down with some kind of invisible force. I was moving inside my head... but my body wasn't moving at all, it was so freaky. Then I heard this dark, creepy voice that said " You are a murderer " It was so strange, because I have never killed anybody.
It was like somebody was trying to make me feel guilty about something that I didn't do. I guess mind-fuck me ?

Then I saw this face, this demo like shadow that was coming towards me. I wanted to scream and yell out to somebody to help me, I wanted to cry as well but I could do neither of these things...then all of a sudden I started moving again, like nothing happened at all.

It was a 11/ 10 on the freakyness scale.
