Siren of the Desert
Calling out to me
Queen of desolation
Spirit set me free...

I saw her standing in the desert
Starlight gleaming in her eyes
Sandstorm patterns swirling ’round her
Rhythmic magic hypnotise

Entrance my soul, I feel I’m flying
With her drifting by my side
An ocean of dust a mile below me
My head thrown back, my arms stretched wide

This girl beside me, is she real?
With ebony hair and emerald eyes
Skin so pale in shining moonlight
Whatever could lie beneath that guise?

Nocturne princess, dream incarnate
Floating over rippling dunes
Voice as sweet as airless whisper
Incantations making tunes

I look at her and ponder quietly
As she reaches out her hand
Should I take it, should I follow
Into her forgotten land?

Gently she caresses me
Her touch soothing away my pains
Then I realise who she is,
This ruler of the Barren Plains;

In this world of lifeless nothing
There’s this figure of perfection
Then I realise it’s just me here,
The Siren is my own reflection

As I gasp in wonderment
Truth dawns upon me in that breath
I am not just merely sleeping
She is the angel of my death

I need not dread that final passing
My time will come, my life will cease
For I now know what lies beyond that
This is my heaven where I am at peace...

Now forever I am resting
With the Siren at my side
Nothing to hurt me, nothing to fear
No more troubles from which to hide

The place I was will mourn this loss
My mortal coil now offshaken
This dark paradise falls before me
From which I shall not be forsaken

Now I feel I have come home
Living alone amongst the sands
I am the Siren of the Desert
And all before me: All my lands.

Very nice. I don't usually do something so long, so it's really hard for me to say anything except that seems like it was pretty good. I also love how the poem twists around and the character realizes they're the Siren. Very catchy, mister.
