I suppose this thread could apply to this forum. Feel free to move it to a more appropriate section.

Anywho...

Which theme song do you prefer: Kingdom Hearts' "Simple and Clean," or Kingdom Hearts 2's "Passion/Sanctuary"?

Well... what I find strange is that through the use of these songs in a game they've become something else. I mean how often do people actually compare two or more songs in this exact way? Yes radio stations have hit lists and what not but you're actually taking two songs by the same artist and giving them a sort of... abstract quality and then forcing them to fight... THAT aside

I find Passion to be more vexing (in a good way) whereas Simple and Clean is a little more standard. That being said I like them both with Passion being a little higher just in regards to if I had to listen to one or the other on my death bed sort of thing.

I like Simple and Clean. I don't know why but it just atttacts me more than Passion. I do like Pasiion though but I just like Simple And Clean more. >.<

i like passion~singe version~ and i love simple and clean/hikari plant B opening version i love passion/sanctuary after the battle

I like the English version of Simple and Clean better than the English version of My Sanctuary. I also like the Japanese version of My Sanctuary better than the Japanese version of Simple and Clean.

Simple and Clean just blows Sanctuary out of the water in my opinion. It just sounds better. I try not to look at the lyrics and the complexity of the song, I listen to music for the music.

I am not really sure, but I kind of like Simple and Clean better than Sanctuary, not really sure why though.

I'll go with Simple and Clean, though I like both songs. I generally prefer that which is associated with Kingdom Hearts 1 over that which is associated with Kingdom Hearts 2. Passion (japanese) > Sanctuary (english), by the way.

I love both of these. If I HAD to choose one, I'd go for Passion.

It's more softer and just...attracts me more.

I love them both, but if i had to choose one, I'd say Simple an Clean.
It just sounds better to me.

im definitely a fan of simple and clean, it fit the first kingdom hearts so well. it takes the cake for me.

I like Passion. It just sounds better to me. But the first one drew me into the game. I love them both equally, actually.

Honestly, I think it's hard to compare the two of them. Even though they're both by Utada Hikaru, the songs are just worlds apart. Simple and Clean is a song that would probably have more widespread mainstream success if it was released as a single, because...well, it's just that kind of song. It's very catchy, very...I dunno, mainstream. It just follows the normal pattern of a song.

Sanctuary is a completely different story, however. It's not your typical song. I think that while Simple and Clean is more suited to fit a mainstream audience, Sanctuary is more suited to fit a video game like KH2. So...I really can't vote either way on this one.

I loved them both! They were melodious, soft, sad and happy. But i'de have to say Simple And Clean. the orchestral version sounded even better!

I much preferred Passion/Sanctuary because of the heightened drama of the song. As Utada said, she realized that Hikari was a sunrise song, whereas Passion was the sunset. And while both songs have a certain sad edge, Passion's infuses a more tragic sense.

Also, there's the matter that Sanctuary actually fit the game, as opposed to Simple and Clean.
