So we were discussing things in the "I hate Twilight!" Thread and I bought up Silent Hill being the one movie that failed in my eyes. So here I am, making this thread so I can express my pain.

Okay first of all, the story switching from a dude to a chick surprised me. This movie was approved by the game makers themselves so if they wanted to make a SH movie, why change the sex of the protagonist? If anybody knows the reason behind this please tell me.

Now, I've done so much research on Silent Hill and the history of it that I just have to say.. the movie was an utter disaster. Just the other day I had someone say "Actually, the Silent Hill movie was great." I was just about ready to stab this person.. srsly. :wacky:

Now if I remember correctly none of the walls and stuff go all lifty into the air and turn into the Alter Silent Hill! in fact, the first case of when the siren goes off is when you're underground and below the school, then when you emerge it's like WOAH DIFFERENT! Pyramid Head also was present in SH1? I believe he came into the story in.. 2 was it? I'm pretty sure 2.

Now Lisa Garland is my absolutely most favored character ever ever. When you first meet her in the hospital and she has no idea what's going on, you're like OMG LEMME SAVE YOU! :ness: but then you find out how she's one of 'them' they all are.. and in the final battle she takes Dr. Kauffman and pulls him down to the depths of hell! Nyahaha.. but srsly. What was up with her in the movie, I really do understand that they have to change some things but making Lisa like THAT?! That was a disgrace! I wish the real Lisa jumped in outta nowhere and mauled that wannabe to pieces!

Okay another thing I didn't like, the ending. Srsly. The ending. In the game (if I can recall correctly) you fight the big monster and then the two souls of Alyssa and Cheryl combine to become whole. Thus, Heather is born.. but what happened in the movie?! they were stuck in a different time.. or something. I didn't even pay attention coz I was like.. WTF IS THIS!? :ness:

There are many other things that I absolutely did not like about this movie and the one reference.. no actually two refrences were made back towards the original character, Harry Mason. 1. The way she walked at the beginning and 2. The stupid cellphone that should've been a radio.. RADIO STATIC SOUNDS BETTER!

All in all, I really think Hollywood should stop touching movies that are undeniably interesting. It's like Square Enix taking new games and pushing them over, hopefully they don't ruin FF-13 but other than that.. I just wish that Silent Hill could've been better. It wasn't near as scary as the game.

And the game didn't even have outstanding graphics.
Oh gosh.. don't even get me started on Homecoming.
:wacky:

Silent Hill was never meant to be 100% faithful adaption of the first game, so I can't really follow your criticism there. Personally I think they should have stayed away from the story arc, monsters, and music from the games, and treated it as if it was a brand new Silent Hill game with its own identity.

Awesome, you made the thread. ^O^

I really wish they had just made SH1 into a movie. They seemed to take the most bits from the first one, what with the daughter running off and all. When I saw the preview for the Silent Hill Movie my jaw kind of dropped and I uttered:
"Where's Harry?"
I'm glad that Cybil and Lisa were featured in it though, they were my two favorite characters in SH1. It's just not the same with good ol' Harry though. :( And I'm kinda disappointed they made Lisa look like a bimbo.

I think the transitions to the Other World have been different for each game pretty much, so it didn't bother me. What bothered me is that they were running away from the other world and into the church, as if that would somehow save them, lol. Pyramid Head was sheer fanservice. He's a manifestation of James' mind, and I didn't see James anywhere in that movie. >> Of course, Pyramid Head also represents guilt, pain, no mercy, executioner, etc... but just like SHH, they didn't need to copy paste him just because he's popular. He was most important in particular to James, so I don't see why they should ruin that.

Hell yeah! I think everyone loves Lisa, lol. I liked how they had her crying blood still, but it simply was not nearly as emotional as it should have been. They really downsized her character, but at least they got her kindness down.

Oh gosh.. don't even get me started on Homecoming.

I liked SHH, lol. Though some parts did irk me...

Whoa, this is weird, I just watched the movie the other day and was thinking of starting a Silent Hill thread.

Anyways, I haven't played the game much (I've played the game, but at a friend's place, so the story escaped me), and when I watched the film, I thought it could have been better. First, it wasn't scary. At all. Secondly, what the hell was up with the storyline? Can someone please explain to me who that lady was at the hospital when Alessa was lying burnt on the bed? The one who looks at her out of "curiosity" (according to Dark Alessa's history lesson). She's also in the room when Dark Alessa finishes retelling her story to Rose. When Rose approaches her, she shuffles away and is later shown with blood splattered on her face. Who is that lady? I think she is also the one who massacred the people in the church. But I thought that was Alessa, cuz she spared Dahlia (her mother).

Oh man I've got so many questions about this movie.
