how the hell am i supposed to beat shinryu? do i need like full stats, cos it's stone thing is a bitch to fight against! im left with like 1 character that dies every time i hit it! i need at least 2 for auto-phoenix to work. also i dont have ribbon yet, i didnt wanna get it without asking, does ribbon protect against it's stone thing?

You beat it, with great difficulty.
I'm not too sure if Ribbon works, I don't think it does, but the attack alone kills you either way, it's why you instantly shatter upon petrification so without the stone effect it's still pretty deadly I assume, but it's better than being completely obliterated from the battle.

If you can get the stinger attack from the magus sisters that would deal INCREDIBLE damage it might work
It's underwater so no Yuna.

I reccommend Wakkas Attack Reels
i got one word for you... RIBBION, and deal like 99 999 damage per hit then you have it easy, use miracle drink, and tidus's blitz ace or wakka's attack reels, then do a entrust to that character as well as a haste and hastiga then you will win easy

The key to victory here is good defence, strength and agility stats. It's a good idea to max out all three of these stats before fighting him. Remember that Shinryu counters EVERY attack with a hit. Good plan here is to come in to this battle with everyone's overdrive gauge full. Bombard Shinryu with Tidus and Wakka's overdive, and then entrust Rikku's overdrive to Wakka, and hit'em again with it.
NOTE: Wakka's overdrive should be Attack Reels, and you should hit Shinryu the 12 times Attack Reel lets you do so the the plan can work and you can beat him with the 3 overdrives.

yeah that works, but my wakka is really weak so i use Tidus blitz ace and do alot of damage with rikku's miracle drink overdrive
actually miracle drink basically doubles the damage you do per hit, cool isn't it
hmmm but that doesn't gauratee that you will do 99 999 damage per hit, for some monsters have such a high defence that it will do only around 50 000 damage well it won't do 99 999 damage for that matter
hmmm well that is true, my luck is only 77 but i'm still trying to max out everything except hp, not going to do that for a while until i get luck maxed out at least first
