this is probably the most underrated rpg series out there. i mean Shadow Hearts 2 can easily beat out almost Final Fantasy game. The dark tone the game shows makes it different than any other rpg...except for maybe the digital devil saga...I want to kno your opinions on this series
 
Ah, Shadow Hearts. Man that's something I really need to get around to. o.0. I'm at the part right before the final boss in the first one and... I've been there since summer. haha... I don't know why I don't just beat the darned thing so I can continue on to the second one. (which I heard is even better) Guess that's just me- flittering around to different things and leaving them unfinished.

Opps, guess I didn't even answer your question did I.

Even though I've only played the first one, I liked the series so far. Personally, I enjoyed the battle system (even though my bro rags on it all the time). I got to using the equipment that makes the hit area invisible but doubles your strength- so trust me, I could easily dominate any battle. Mwahahaha.

I enjoyed the story, unlike some other RPGs, I actually cared about what happened to the characters. And I liked the whole Lottery Ticket aspect. A lot of things about the game were just... fun.

And like I said in my previous post, I heard the next two SH kick the living crap outta the first one, so I'm looking forward to getting around to them too.

wow.. i guess not to many people played this game since this thread is lacking a bit...im surprised... its an awesome series...if nobody has played them yet do yourself a favor and play this game...i promise you wont be disappointed;)
 
It's probably because this is a Final Fantasy forum, many people here rarely play an RPG that doesn't have the words Final and Fantasy on the cover... Ah well, their loss.
 
I played Shadow Hearts Covenant and Shadow Hearts From the New World and game is great. I always hit the red ones. I wish they make Shadow Hearts 4 or MMORPG of Shadow Hearts.
 
I have to say I really like the first game. The atmosphere created was excellent and a refreshing change from most of the console r.p.g.'s I'd been used to. The second one, sadly, I didn't enjoy quite as much. I felt that the game system and presentation improved by quite a bit but the excellent atmosphere from the first game was diluted somewhat I felt. And also a certain little event or two which seem to cheapen the experience of the first one....
 
I really want the first one, but I've never gotten around to getting it. However, I did buy the third one and returned it. It wasn't really what I expected, I guess.

yea the 3rd one was alot different than the first 2...probably because the series switched publishers or whatever you call it...but i enjoyed it cause the characters were presented well and the battle system was still the same from the previous games that i came to love.
 
I actually didn't realize that Koudelka was related to shadow hearts until I started playing SH1 and heard her name mentioned several times...
I never got to finish Koudelka OR SH1, but I absolutely loved them. <3

Koudelka was amazing.
These games have great music too...
 
Koudelka is indeed an amazing game. Yeah, it was meant to be before SH1. I love the SH series, Yuri is such a badarse ^^ I love the Judgement Ring, such a good battle system.

yea i believe shadow hearts is good but i think that ff7 is way better then it less of a drag to do actions too. wee it goes round ops was i suppose to hit something? and then ok i got it now miss?!! how could i miss!!!!!!! i hit every wedge i couldn't miss. see my point and the story line in final fantasy 7 is better too

How did we get Final Fantasy popping in here? I dont see how you can compare the 2 really. Comparing a Final Fantasy to another Final Fantasy is okay, but comparing 2 RPGs with no connection just seems bizzare to me.

i agree...shadow hearts series and final fantasy series are completely different games. its like comapring apple to oranges...shadow hearts had many good things like very diverse characters ,dark serious storyline, awesome battle system with the judgement ring, and dark music. Whereas Final Fantasy games are usually upbeat storyline, however Square likes to reuse characters personalities, the battle is is basic but good(except for FFXII it just sucked), the music has an upbeat epic feel to it. So honestly do not compare these games cause they are total opposites in every category
 
i was comparing it to shadow hearts not a final fantasy game and also i forgot that in shadow hearts you got the elevation system that cuses you to miss if it is just one block higher then the attack
 
cause the person who posted first said that shadow hearts was better then all ffs which is false
 
... you got a point there sorry but i just put my opinion about the comparasion to show them why shadow hearts is really heard very much an ff is never stoped being said
