Shadow Hearts Series

I'm enjoying the third one at the moment, feels a lot more upbeat than Covenant, which I didn't really like the atmosphere of too much. The music's a lot better than Covenant's as well if you ask me.

The only thing that makes it feel inferior in any way is that Covenant had oodles of side-quests and rewards for them, FTNW doesn't seem to have nearly as many.

Yes you do need to. You need to use spoiler tags when giving away a twist, ending or secret in a game.

soz

soz did not realize u had to use tags and yes lets get back to dicussing shadow hearts instead of bickering over spoilers.

I like Covenant and From The New World. They are the best.

I love From the new world's battle system. The double combo and stuff. Just a great battle technique.

I have all three in the series and replay them a lot. Well, just finished the third one for the second go around and it's as great as the first two, even though Yuri is no longer a character. I do like the fact that the 'Valentine' family are in each one though...LOL. They are a crazy bunch.

Hm, Id say I like Koudelka, Shadow Hearts 1 and Covernant the most.
New World was clearly missing Yuri and didnt appeal to me as much. Im enjoying it so far, but Ive been told Yuri may put an apperance in the fourth one.

Personal order:

1st - Shadow hearts
2nd - From The New World
3rd - Covenant

Covenant was a good game with plenty of upgrades for the system and battles but it was really lacking in atmosphere, something which made the first one stand out from other rpg's for me.

I actually really enjoyed Covenant. I think it was the high-point of the series.
Kouldeka was just an experiment from a team that just separated from their previous company.
Shadow Hearts 1 was a daring attempt at a new kind of battle system. Unfortunately, it's production values weren't near what the competitors were doing...IE SquareEnix and Final Fantasy X.
From The New World barely had anything to do with the franchise other than the battle system and quirky characters. Unfortunately, the quirky characters weren't done as well as they did them in Covenant.

Covenant had everything a good, quality RPG needs. Outstanding GFX, music that you didn't mind listening to, voice acting that fit the characters, an interesting cast, an innovative battle system, and a world and story worth exploring.
