When I played through X I already thought Seymour was kinda wierd but when I found out that his mother is the fayth used for anima i was just plain scared. He sacrificed his own mum for power, I mean, thats low. What did you think?

(I wonder what would happen if I sacrificed my mother? *goes to do just that*)

He was going to defeat Sin, but couldn't go through losing his mother at the same time. That is really low just to use his mother as his source of power. How pathetic.

He didnt want her to become a fayth, she sacraficed herself so that he wouldnt be lonely he would have the power to accepted by people cause he was half guado half human. you see parts of that in the zanarkand ruins and when you get Anima at the baaj temple, seymours mother explains the whole reason behind seymours insanity

But still, using his mother as a source of power is selfish and he just tries to use it for his own greed.

I think that no matter what, the fact his own mother was his power source was bitter sweet. I mean, it was sick that he used his mother to wreak havoc, but it's sweet how he used her because he probably thought he was staying connected with her by using her. =/ Just my thoughts.

Well it was her choice and in a way her fault that he turned out that a way... If she was there she could of defended him and held him... Maybe he wouldn't be like he was??? Thats just me. I think it was selfish of her to do it, as she left her son to deal with being a half human/ half guado, on his own.

OMG play the game peoples he didn't sacrifice his mom the story is:
His mom was just about the best mom ever only she spoiled Seymour. She decided he needed to learn to live on his own and she used herself to give Seymour a friend. So she turned herself into a Fayth and gave Seymour Anima but in the process he has to fend for his own.

power, power, power that is what all humans are, things controlled by there greed and desires to be given hope... it is kinda sad really because that is really all that we are, puppets that are controlled by those things, i think that is what happened to seymour, his greed and desire was to have power, so that is why he did what he did to get what he wanted...

*sigh*

as said several times, his mother sacrificed herself to get him Anima... thing is that the power Anima gave him drive him mad, he wasn't able to control such power, while being naturally powerful in the ways of magic and summoning...
eventually he took over the typical characteristic of the human race: greed, which turned him into the person he was when he was a big guy

and eventually he didn't really care anymore about his mother and abused Anima to gain power and forgot the sacrifice of his mother

and dying and not being send to the farplane only made this worse since he wasn't human nor guado anymore, just undead, which are emotionless

that's how i see it

Seymour was a pain! i didnt really feel for his character he was just a bit of a psycho to me, He killed his father and used his mothers power for evil , talk about betrayal and ruthlessness.

But still, using his mother as a source of power is selfish and he just tries to use it for his own greed.

Ummm... okay...
Well he never used his mother to satisfy his own greed, and he never uses his power to satisfy his own greed. As said before his mother did it so he could defeat Sin and be accepted by the world while he was begging to her and crying so she wouldn't do that. Seymour's motives, even though their result was death and it may seem bad to our eyes, were totally pure. He wanted to rid Spira of it's life full of fear and sorrow, a life which he had experienced himself with the hardest way. He wanted to stop people from fearing Sin by simply sinking them to oblivion and obliterating them all would do just that.
He never wanted the power to rule over the world. That's Kefka's kind of ambition. All Seymour wanted was to rid others of the pain of losing their beloved ones(as he had), living a life of sorrow(as he had), and being utterly lonely and sad(as he had). So you see, even if doing it the wrong way, he wanted to rid mankind of the suffering and misery he had gone through. However he could look for other ways to do that, like help Yuna and the others find about Yu Yevon but anyway:P
