I was thinking earlier that whenever I tend to view a thread that is several pages long, I don't usually remember to check the original post. Sometimes I do... but it's often just easier to read the post above mine and assume the thread's been on topic the entire time. However, the problem is that's not always the case.

So, I was wondering if there was any way to freeze the first post of a thread as the first post that was displayed on every page? It's like when you freeze panes in Excel... no matter where you scroll those panes stay in that place. It's the same concept. Does everyone understand what I'm suggestion?

I don't know if it's feasible. I don't know if anyone would want it if it was feasible. I just know that I think it would help threads stay on topic and stay alive longer. Sometimes topics evolve, I get that. But sometimes they become so bastardized by the 4th page in that no one wants to post in the thread anymore because no one knows what it's about.

Just a thought.

That actually sounds like a good idea, it would be especially helpful in the FF and GFX Sections, particularly if the discussion in still on topic, and it would be helpful for SOTW too.

I think we would need a Tech Admin to do that though, and I'm not all-together sure how necessary it is, sure it saves time but...it might not be worth it. Like, if it effects server load.

Why does everyone keep putting the qualifier "actually" in front of the words "good idea". I've made other good suggestions in the past >.>

Anyhow, yea... in my recent and absolutely pointless F&S thread someone made the "suggestion" to figure out how to create more FF-related posting. So instead of thinking of it as an insult... I thought of it more as... "creative direction". And so I came up with this idea.

As for the lack of a tech admin, that definitely is a problem. I don't know Decado's past or skill ability... but I honestly don't mind the guy. An obvious troll, to be sure... but he's not often wrong and his heart is always in the right place, even if his actions are far from kosher. I say if he can do it, let him take a whack at it.

Staff already vetoed Decado as Tech Admin, and the way most staff members are talking lately, that won't change anytime soon. Not to mention that Decado said in one of his threads that he didn't want the job.

It could be something that LG could do, but...it's probably one of the things we need a techie for.

Letting him do this job isn't the same as letting him have the position. He'd regain credibility out of it and we'd get our feature. But I understand your position. It's perfectly reasonable if you explore all venue's beforehand. But I won't continue to speak for him, it's not my place.

The idea's a good one, at least worth a shot. Who knows? Maybe it'll be easy to make, maybe not.

As for tech admin...you're best off looking for someone with a decent attitude. Getting a few extra features on the forum isn't worth dealing with someone who won't work well in a team.
