Well folks after yesterday's patch I wanted to throw this game out there for people who have never heard of it, or have heard of it but heard it was too buggy to play.
Do NOT! dismiss this game.
This game is a great buy, but if you are no convinced, rent (or gamefly) it first.
Why?
Dungeon crawling...Leveling up...Taking on bosses that take up your whole screen... Mounts/Special mounts... This game has SOOOO much to offer.
Single Player: Take Diablo or Champions of Norath or Baulders Gate and you pretty much have this game. The story line you can choose from is either Light or Dark. You have the option of being the following characters:
Dryad - These little amazon girls can use a wide variety of ranged weapons. They also master the arts of nature in which they can use to root, summon and trap creatures. They have killer AoEs* as well.
High Elf - Hotties with a knack for the witch craft. These girls can specialize into any of the arts, but I recommend trying to stick to one in particular. They have the most deadly AoEs* in the game (in my opinion)
Inquisitor - The dark necromancers of the game. They are used as a deadly asset and can summon mass amounts of guards with the skeletal abilities as well as the doppleganger abilities. They use the dark arts in order to blow up corpes, summon souls to make them stronger and also have mean buffs.
Temple Guardian - These high tech canines are generally equipped with an energy gun of some kind, but can specialize in whatever. They are like the utility of all characters. They can AoE, do massive amounts of ranged damage, and to most fellas they are the coolest looking.
Seraphm (Light campaign exclusive) - These winged angels use their powers of light to reduce the baddies into dust. They can be very high damage dealers due to their ability to duel wield just like the shadow warriors. They use their buffs to help out allies (in online)
Shadow Warrior (Shadow campaign exclusive) - These bad boys are bashing heads and taking names, just like Duke Nukem (without the bubble gum) I generally love to jump in with my arial attack and then let out a flurry combination that lays waste to all of the goblins around me. It is a lot of fun having a character who has the most Hit Points and such. Just make sure you specialize him right, or you are in for a hurting later.
Multiplayer: This is where the bugs are still being worked out, but honestly its a butt load of fun with 4 people.
That's right only 4 people can play at a time, but thats okay. Make sure the host has a dependable connection or else there might be spikes of lag here and there.
With the multiple party buffs that characters can put out there, with the healing/attack bonuses/defense bonuses online groups are a must in certain situations. Don't get me wrong single player is doable, but you have to be higher lvls to take on bosses per se, then you would with 4 people to a group.
The only erk I have with multiplayer is there is no tank type player. Every player needs to look after themselves, because once you have a monster on you, it isn't easy to pull off.
-----------
I suggest this game very highly if you have a group of 4 who are willing to sit down and take on a different take to an rpg. The bugs are almost all resolved, and it is a very playable game. Now the controls are hard to handle at first, since it is a PC port over, so work with it, it is a treat.
Rating - 8/10 (this will change once all the bugs are resolved)
